CDPs for full orchestra
My Audio Research CD3MkII cd player does really good on classical music. I also have a nice collection of 19th and 20th century classical. Of course it depends on the recording, but where the recording is right, CD3MkII delivers the goods. I liste...
newbie, disappointed, curious..
get used to it. there are no commitments, unless something was sold at an auction and even then it means very little.we are talking used audio gear. I know how it feels, but this is perfectly normal. it was actually nice of him to let you know.
Downsizing from Audio Research REF110 to 100.2
I would recommend you try a solid state amp, such as Classe CA-2200, McIntosh MC402 or Pass Labs X250.5 or X350.5 or McCormack DNA-500.I think any one of these amplifiers will be a good fit. Besides, any one of these should be a good match with th...
B&W speakers and SF lower end
what's the rest of your system? what amplifier?
Does anyone out there NOT hear a difference in CD
if you're going to spend $1600, spend it on a used DAC. use your Elite as a transport. Or even buy a cheap DVD player and use that as a transport. Bel Canto DAC3 is awesome and can be had for around that much used. Besides, you also get multiple d...
Downsizing from Audio Research REF110 to 100.2
Jglpubli, first, let's take it a bit further. Few more questions:1) is the REF3 broken in? Do you at least have 500 hours of playing time on the unit?2) REF110 - how many hours? Broken in or not? Should have at least 500 hours and even more to be ...

what problems are you having with the sound of your system?
Break in period for albums.?
happened to me more than once. Bartok's string quartets, Prokofiev's "The Gambler" and Schoenberg's violin concerto were most recent. usually the music that "grows" on you is going to be the stuff you like most.
Opinions: PC's with strong lows roll off the highs
Tvad, I am using Audience powerChord on the amp. It's been resident on it for a while now, about a year or so. Volex works good on the Pass amp, but Audience and Shunyata Taipan are better, although I moved the Taipan Helix to my preamp because th...
mo' better bass: any substitute for watts?
first of all, what is the frequency range of your speakers? you need to find that out first.
Opinions: PC's with strong lows roll off the highs
Try Taipan Helix Alpha. Diamnodback and Copperhead are good but not as good as the Taipan and up. Also, have you tried Audience? Not crazy expensive but very good cords. I used to have all Audience powerChords at some point. Couldn't complain abou...
Opinions: PC's with strong lows roll off the highs
this is going to be tough. You may want to consider trying to combine different power cords with different strengths within your system, in order to srike the optimum balance and get the sonics you want.Have you tried any of the recent Shunyata He...
Room size for B&W 802D???
it will take some effort to find the position for them but you'll get there. Usually the image shifts towards the side with the openning so you may need to tweak the left speaker in your case to center the image. Stereophile test cds work good and...
Room size for B&W 802D???
you'll need to experiment with speaker placement and possibly with bass traps. There may be some suckout on the left side due to the openning into the kitchen/foyer, which will also cause you to play with speaker positioning to achieve proper cent...
b&w805s vs ATC scm19
