Start with Upgrade to DAC? Long but interesting video by Rob Watts covering a lot of ground on DACs, sources, cables, power supplies. https://youtu.be/wvfc4UYGDi0
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system? @cleeds I do not know what is causing this phenomenon with the Furutech stuff. But what I do know is that I installed two of these GTX-D NCF Rhodium outlets months apart and observed the same crazy break in these things go thru each time. Or to be...
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system? @bolong I don’t doubt Paul heard a difference with an expensive fuse. I heard it too when I tried it in my amp about 15 years ago. So I don’t doubt that fuses make a difference. The point I was trying to make in my earlier response is that no fus...
Can hi-end cables benefit less expensive electronics? Knowing I will be upgrading my system in not too distant future, I’ve implemented cabling that were considerably above the level of the components. I had Acoustic Zen Absolute Copper ICs connecting Chord Qutest to Rogue RP1 and once again Rogue R...
Audirvana streaming sorry couldn’t resist. On a serious note…most likely culprit is Audirvana. You can also stream with Mconnect. I’ve done it with my Bricasti m3. Should work just fine without any interruptions. Mean time you can probably see if there is an updat...
Any Experience with Furutech Unfiltered Power Distributors @jfrmusic I haven’t tried these but I use Furutech GTX-D NCF outlets in my system. And that is what you will get with these units. In my experience - 1. These outlets have an impact on sound quality. Could potentially be a negative impact as y...
ARC Ref75se bias @skids yes I bought the puritan new and had it for over a year. So enough hours on it. Break in won’t address the current delivery. What you observed is what the puritan does. System synergy is definitely critical but if you have a power conditi...
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system? @gavin1977 well yeah if you send garbage into the amp nothing will stop it from passing it on to the speakers. If the amp is transparent enough that is. Power cables make a difference for sure. Driving factors are gauge, quality of conductor mate...
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system? Reading thru this thread I find it entertaining that after introducing pure silver ICs and speaker cables, all in a signal path, that made the system bright, there are those who believe a fuse that’s not in a signal path can help reverse the effec...
Start with Upgrade to DAC? In my opinion…both the streamer and the DAC are your weak links. You upgrade the DAC first and probably not get its full potential with iFi Zen Stream There’s more to be squeezed out of that schiit with a good streamer. So it’s kind of a wash b...
Solo streamer @rvpiano all good man! Keep the thoughts coming! So far you’re reflecting my 7 months journey with the N200. And I enjoy music with it in the system now as much as I did the first time I plugged it in.
Why SACD Disc playback sounds better than its equivalent ripped DSF file / streaming Try the same experiment but with a redbook CD. The outcome will most likely be the same. The reson, most likely, is the computer feeding the signal into the Oppo via USB is too noisy and the Oppo is not able to cope with amounts of jitter in the...
Solo streamer @mahler123 Are you using mconnect with Aurender?
Solo streamer Really? That’s strange. I’m between DACs now and can’t test it but I will compare after I get a DAC. Don’t recall the CLM being an issue. May be revisit it after you got some miles on it and reassess. |
