Can hi-end cables benefit less expensive electronics?
@skinzy that’s because Audioquest cables in general aren’t all that in my experience. I had their Thunder, Tornado and Hurricane PCs and didn’t like them in a long run. I do like their Diamond USB cable though. Better value and performance can be...
Looking to downsize and for suggestions for amp(s)
@stevea11757 Big Pass Labs fanboy here… I simplified my system couple of weeks ago.  Bought a Coda CSiB integrated while I still had my Pass Labs separates - XP22 and X260.8. After several rounds of very thorough evaluation, the Pass separates ...
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ?
@tweak1 true! But…the speakers and the amp are the biggest contributors to the final presentation (let’s assume room acoustics are decent here) and you will never know what your speakers are capable of without the best possible amplifier driving t...
Network Acoustics Eno2
@mitch2 +1 I owned Eno Streaming System and sold it. I didn’t like the mellowed out presentation and rolled off sound. I now use iFi LAN iSilencer - it doesn’t do 💩 but it also doesn’t harm the sound.  I have it before the Ethernet cable that fee...

@rvpiano definitely keep it setup the way it sounds best to you! Enjoy the music and don’t use it to evaluate your equipment - it’s the mode that’s nearly impossible to get out of
UPGRADE PATH FROM CHORD QUTEST
I’ll add that the Brimar CV4003 tubes from Upscale Audio were very nice in the RP1. But they are not a substitute for a dac upgrade.
UPGRADE PATH FROM CHORD QUTEST
@kjl1065 I used to have the Qutest with Rogue RP1, Rogue ST100’driving Martin Logan Montis. Streamer was Lumin U1 Mini. Very close to your setup.  Qutest is amazing for the money, but…I eventually ended up moving to Benchmark DAC 3 HGC which was s...

You know something I thought of…is it possible that the N200 has lower noise in CLM and sounds cleaner vs a bit more jitter going to your DAC in regular mode, which causes the DAC to sound slightly brighter when it’s dealing with a bit more jitter...

@rvpiano I’m between DACs now and have one en route for a Tuesday/Wednesday delivery. I’ll compare when everything is hooked up and running again. Will let you know. Been spinning CDs on my $49 15 year old DVD player the last few days. Any music i...
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system?
@gavin1977 I owned Thunder, Tornado and Hurricane. Here’s my free advice…take it for what it’s worth… Start closest to the speakers and work your way up the audio chain. Going from the source down will be less effective. So…speaker cables, power...
HOW TO REPLACE THE CHORD QUTEST POWER SUPPLY WITH THE S BOOSTER MARK II
@kjl1065 FYI…Rob Watts does not recommend using linear power supplies with his DACs. I had a Qutest and it’s an awesome DAC. You’re probably better off upgrading interconnects. If you do get the s booster, if you order one that’s compatible with...
LAIV Harmony
Ignoring Hans’ feedback on this DAC would be a mistake. However, given LAiV has a solid return policy, it would be worth to try if this DAC is something that appeals to you.
Acoustic treatment ideas
@macg19 I was about to recommend working with GIK. One other thing Inwas going to suggest is to pull the speakers out into the room a bit more and see if you get any improvement
LAIV Harmony
He’s usually spot on.
LAIV Harmony
Hans’ review sounds more like the truth than the hype. He’s not shy about pointing out the DAC’s faults.
