Power cable
@ghdprentice Don’t get me wrong, the AQ H is a very good power cord. I tried Shunyata Alpha v2 while I had the Hurricane to see if I can get a more neutral and balanced presentation and it did sound more open but ultimately the Alpha was much cool...

Power cable
@ghdprentice AQ Hurricane is a very nice cable. I had it long enough to get verry familiar with its pros and cons. Hurricane’s emphasis on bass had me impressed initially with its power and texture. However , it happens to also be this cable’s cur...

Summary: Yes a "bad" cable can sound bad, but there is no esoteric magic cable can actually improve the signal transfer. They can filter it which may mask a problem and it sounds better.    That same “filtering” is what can also hold back a com...
MM Cartridge to MC Cartridge
Rega makes it simple for you to go up their line of cartridges. Set up is a breeze. Detour to a different brand and now you’re pretty much stuck scratching your head trying to figure out whether or not the cartridge height will match, how to set o...
Ethernet streaming
I use Bricasti M3 with network player/renderer as Roon end point. I had Lumin U1 Mini and preferred the M3, sold the Lumin. Bricasti has few more models up from the M3 with better DAC (M1S2, M21). The preamp section in the Bricasti DACs is not to ...
Ref 6SE. Tube dampers
@tattooedtrackman best way to find out is to try. When I had ARC preamps I used Herbie’s ultrasonic ss dampers on signal tubes. They didn’t hurt but I don’t recall an improvement either. As long as you have good quality tubes that are low micropho...

newbee 4,587 posts 08-11-2023 at 06:18pm  …….. BTW I think the value of A/B testing is flawed, not so much in the theory but in the execution, and of little real value. FWIW. 100%. And not just for cables. For components as well. To pr...
I have perfected my network for the nth time
@singingg no I didn’t miss an opportunity. as a matter of fact I did try coax from cdt to Bricasti. It was a WireWorld cable (middle of the line). It didn’t make a difference. We can continue looking for things to blame, however, this brings us ba...
what preamp goes best with mccormack dna 500, follow up....
@kennesawjet I had pretty much all AZ cables including Wow and all the way up to Absolute Copper. As you go up the line you get a noticeable improvement in clarity, resolution and soundstage while retaining the warm sound signature. One of the bes...

Actually my Bricasti M3 is a DAC with an optional network renderer. I use it as a Roon end point without a dedicated streamer. I did own a Lumin U1 Mini that I tested extensively against the Bricasti and the M3 won every time. So I sold the Lumin....

I had the 3 HGC before the Bricasti. Not garbage but not great. @singingg Esoteric is a nice player though…they make good stuff. Depending on the model and vintage of the esoteric player, I get your drive to bring the streaming up to that level. R...
I have perfected my network for the nth time
@singingg a quick story…last year I decided to try CDs again. I picked up a dedicated CD transport, a Pro-Ject DS2T and a DH Labs AES/EBU cable from Upscale Audio. I gave both the transport and the cable time to break in and compared it to streami...
I have perfected my network for the nth time
@singingg better components = components that have better design and better quality parts where it matters the most, including power supplies, more robust network and digital design and implementation. All of this results in better sound. Is it mo...

@rubicon15 it’s a connection drop out. Stop calling it buffering. Buffering is what prevents a user from noticing a brief connection drop out. You had issues with your setup. I use mesh for years and zero problems streaming audio and video.
