The LRS+ Speakers
I've owned numerous speakers in my relatively short time in this hobby (about 6 years now). They include: Vandersteen 1ci Vandersteen 2ce Sig II Tekton Electron Paradigm Prestige 75F Kef R11 HHR Exotic Ohm F redesign (TLS1 hybrid) Vandersteen Tr...
Speakers for a unique small room
@justinrphillips I like the way you're thinking with your last post. Why spend money now when your room will be changing in the not-so-distant future.
Large mid/bass, soft-dome tweeter, high(ish) sensitivity
One more thing to add, I know you said you listen at relatively low volumes, but I’ve cranked the Vandys to ridiculously high volumes at times and they hold together. I’m not sure the same can be said about the Lintons. Also I felt the Vandy’s had...
Large mid/bass, soft-dome tweeter, high(ish) sensitivity
Vandersteen and Linton I would both consider warmish. Amazing mid-range, polite slightly rolled off highs. I think my Vandy 1ci's put out satisfying bass to where I don't need a sub. What are your room dimensions?
Large mid/bass, soft-dome tweeter, high(ish) sensitivity
Please take this advice with a grain of salt. But I’ve heard the Lintons a couple of times. My impression was that my Vandersteen 1ci’s did everything the Lintons did but better. But those are two good speakers to put on your audition list. I sho...
Fritz Carrera or other possibilities!
Fritz does offer a 30 day money back guarantee. He is easy to work with and a pleasure to speak to. I can’t speak to the Carerra’s but at the end of the day the Carbon 7’s were just not for me. From the stuff I’ve heard, the Vandersteen VLR CT co...
Candidates for best speakers in the $2000-5000 market
Since everyone's throwing their hat in the ring here's mine: - Vandersteen Treo (used if you can find them) - Magnepan 3.7i (used) - Ohm Tall 3000 - There's a gorgeous pair for sale on eBay right now
Flat Screen Television behind speakers
In my 2nd system (living room) the reflections off the tv and coffee table were noticeable. For listening sessions I would put a blanket over the tv and move the coffee table off to the side. I'm not like some of the guys here that can hear a gnat...
what size magnepan
I currently have the .7 with 2 REL subs in the corners per REL’s guidance in a 11’ x 13’ room. I may have a twinge of what-about-itus wondering if the 1.7i would be better, but I think the .7 is a great choice. I'm still kind of shocked at how muc...
For Vandersteen owners & lovers: Which other brands do you like?
I am a fan of Vandersteen. I have a pair of 1ci's and a pair of Treo Ct's. I recently purchased as set of Maggie .7's that I am currently quite smitten with.
OHM 3XO Factory Rebuild
Ohm speakers are fantastic and I hope to own a pair of the 1000's some day. I agree with mapman give those new drivers some time to break in. Enjoy!
Lumin T2 burn in time?
@thingswelike Happy Lumin T2 owner here. I do agree with others above, that playlist organization is not a strong suit of the Lumin app. And I too struggled the first few days understanding the concept of adding tracks to a playlist to get them to...
Can someone help me pick out my first speakers?
@avanti1960 you're right. I only suggested the 12.0 because it was in budget for the OP.
Can someone help me pick out my first speakers?
+1 for Wharfedale Diamonds At that price point I really don't think you can go wrong with these:  Open box special. Was $349 now $279 and Music Direct has a generous 30 day no hassle return policy. I had the slightly bigger 12.2 and fooli...
Magnepan .7 Alternatives
First off condolences on your loss. I’ve been watching this thread with great interest as I recently purchased the .7 and couldn’t be happier with them. I would definitely take Johnny R.’s advice and go straight out of the Node into your amp. Im...
