Quality of Analogue Productions pressings
I have bought LPs from Acoustic Sounds for many years. So far, I had to return only two LPs that had something stuck on it. I also bought some QRP pressings and they all sound dead quiet. As for the sound quality, I find that some reissues do soun...
Top jazz trios piano, bass, drums on vinyl?
Tubegroover,I agree one should listen first before buying the Three Blind Mice recordings. I only like Midnight Sugar and Misty. The others have good sonics but music is so so.I do have lots of American jazz. One good example is "We Get Request" b...

I like Midnight Sugar from Three Blind Mice. It was close-miked with lots of details and dynamic was explosive. Music is nice too.
Do you think LP needs break-in to sound its best?
I thought I asked a serious question and expected people would answer if they have something to contribute. Apparently, some folks didn't take my question seriously. What can I say? I guess some folks here love to have fun.

Syntax,How much do you pay for your holy water? The distill water I buy is no more than $2.

I continue to stick to conventional method by using record cleaning machine. You guys can enjoy sunbathing and steel scrub. :)

I do clean all new LPs I buy before playing. I am with Elizabeth that the first time listening the sound is just all right. It just sounds better after several plays.Brf's explanation also makes senses. I don't have the same experience with CD tho...
Better sounding after 1 hour
I wouldn't leave tube gears on 24/7. This will shorten their life. Solid state, especially preamp, can be left on 24/7. Yes, most audio equipment sounds better after some warm up.
Focal 1038be or Revel Ultima Salon 2?
I own the Salon2 and don't want to brag about it. Every component has its limit. I heard better speakers but they all cost a lot more. One of my friends has speakers that cost $60k and it is slightly better than the Salon2. For $22k new, it is one...
Focal 1038be or Revel Ultima Salon 2?
Agreed with Chrissain that Salon2 can sound full and rich depending on the amps being used. When I auditioned the Salon2 at a dealer years ago, they used a CJ 140 monoblocks. The voice and instruments had very nice body and richness. However, the ...
Graham Phantom Supreme?
It is quicker to buy a new one instead of sending in an old one to upgrade. I sold my old one and bought a new one a year ago.
Focal 1038be or Revel Ultima Salon 2?
I own Salon2. Yes it can sound metallic, especially they have metal drivers. But you won't pair it up with bright and lean sounding amps. Salon2 can be very neutral sounding if set up right. Its sound is alive with lightning quick transient respon...
Focal 1038be or Revel Ultima Salon 2?
I currently own Salon2. No, small tube amps won't cut it. You need high current solid state amps. You can try high power tube amps (with a 4 ohm tap to choose). I had a friend bring over a $18k tube amps (transformerless) to demo with the Salon2 a...
Moving from CD to analog
I have been a vinyl diehard for years. I keep a CD player in my system just for my visitors. CD and LP are two different formats and they sound different. Welcome to the vinyl club. It is a good idea to start with entry-level vinyl gears. Like oth...
Rhea Signature vs. ARC PH-7
I used to own an ARC PH-7 for several months. My friend brought over a RHEA Signature to compare with the PH-7. I liked the RHEA better in my system. Then I borrowed an ASR Basis Exclusive to compare with the PH-7. I liked the ASR the most. I rank...
