Heavy duty amp stand, Sonic benefits?
I can almost guarantee you that Noone in a blind listening test could determine if your amp is on the floor, a cheap wobbly stand, or an outrageously expensive rack. Additionally, noone will be able to ascertain whether the amp is supported via sp...
Questions on Dedicated 20 amp home wiring
I ran 50 feet of 12 awg romex connected of course to a 20 amp dedicated breaker at the panel. The other end terminates at a Audioquest NG Edison receptacle. I use two power strips, a Audioquest Niagara 1200 (connected via AQ Z3) and a Furman PST-8...
From whence does Sound Stage come?
It's in the recording or it is not, simple. You cannot reproduce what is not there to begin with.
What is the appeal of the Denon 103 cartridges?
Not to re boot the thread, but I agree with the guy above, short and sweet...it sounds darn good. That's all that matters in the end. Oh, and like he said, they are cheap...I can buy 10 for the price of one high end cart....
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
Happy with my "solid state" pure class A Sugden. As Herb Reichert put it, "Trust me folks, class-D is like fake cocaine compared to the rolling, relaxed, shroom-like beauty of the Sugden A21 SE’s midrange."
Baffled by Pricing Strategy
I noticed on Ebay that if I lower my price, I lose a watcher or two! It's happened many a time...figure that out! I've often raised my price back up, only to gain watchers! Lol, people are freaking weird. Sone of those same items eventually sold, ...
The Symphony of the Audiophile: How Do You Define Enjoyment in Sound?
Over the years I’ve learned to be less analytical and just enjoy what’s playing. If it drives me to tap my feet and or nod my head, then I’m in my happy place. There are times I put something on and it’s not so enjoyable, but usually it is because...
Weak Link in Vinyl Playback
You need to spend much more money on the analog side, judging from the components being utilized. Your not going to tweak much out of what is there. I’d say back to the drawing board, sell it all off and start anew...that’s just me and my take on ...
Can an audio rack be that important?
Wow, I must be insanely poor, the cheapest Fleetwood rack from a post above is 8600 dollars, uhm yeah I got that...🙄 My 500 dollar sideboard/credenza is doing just fine, thanks. Sliding wood doors keep most equipment safe and out of view, it's 18...
Tip for purchase new power cable
Audioquest Thunder is a nice cable. Lowered the noise floor on my system.
Would Luxman work well with JBL?
I hear that Naim gels nicely with those jbl’s, at least with the 4309’s...I’ll be running mine with a 5si...and nac a5 cables and nac a5 jumpers. In Japan, it is popular to run jbl with Accuphase.
Can you pick out what is what?
As long as a phono stage provides low noise and an accurate RIAA response, I’m not certain you realy need an uber expensive one. Sure you can spice things up with fancy circuitry or tubes etc, but ultimately, they don’t necessarily sound better, b...
What's the point of reviewing?
I’ve bought numerous components over the years based generally on Herb Reichert’s reviews (stereophile) and to me, he is dead on with his reviews and a joy to read. I also like the fact that he often reviews equipment the average guy can afford......
Why do speakers improve with more powerful amps?
Mine sound pretty good with 30 watts of class A.
What happened to all the highend stereo shops
@femoore12 Well that is one more than I know! I have absolutely Noone that I know that is an audiophile. And when I talk about anything audio to the avg person, it falls on deaf ears. Most people just do not care....happy with their mp3, phone, ...
