Is the ideal multi-way a 3-way with limited bass? oldhvymec,Any speaker with a moving diaphragm will have doppler distortion. It is not transient, it is any time one driver is playing multiple frequencies. Reducing the travel of the travel for the same sound level will of course reduce the dopple...
Is the ideal multi-way a 3-way with limited bass? What situation, other than aesthetics, will a huge floor stander be superior to relatively full range speaker as erik has described coupled with good subs? The only case would be if the ideal place for the subs just happened to coincide with the ...
I have been a stickler about keeping power cables away from signal cables...on equipment ? aural_grat10 posts11-13-2020 5:00pmPerhaps I missed it, but I don't see anyone considering that vibration in the cables/cords are as big or bigger a factor in degraded sound performance as electrical interference. That is because no one has eve...
What's wrong with classical music on vinyl? I would say it is a temporal displacement issue since the topic is 15 years old ....
Is the ideal multi-way a 3-way with limited bass? Like the looks of those gosta. When things are normal again, may have to go find those. I have been looking for a good high end home theater speaker.
Why is black so popular for components? @cd318, that is from melatonin suppression which blue light also does. It keeps you awake. cd3181,366 posts11-12-2020 2:40pm@audio2design,Yes, I think you're right. Blue kind of makes me a little too alert. Doesn't help to get that 'mellow mood' e...
Benefit of shielded ac wire? Any downside? Considering that the line/neutral in BX cable is twisted which results in lower inductance versus ROMEX which is separated and parallel, I would like to hear the reasons why BX would result in mushed dynamics?Lower inductance would make for dirtie...
Audio Research preamps EXCESSIVE OPERATING COSTS Isn't this sort of like complaining about how much gas your Ferrari uses or would be be more of a Camaro analogy?
Is the ideal multi-way a 3-way with limited bass? Perhaps, but it really comes down to acoustical design of the speaker and materials, and while I think 3 is somewhat ideal at this point, I would say for similar and different reasons.I agree on the issue of doppler distortion, even though there a...
Difference between 75 and 110 ohm digital cables? 110 is the spec for balanced connections. 75 would be typical for single ended , i.e. RCA
Speaker cabels for dark sounding speakers? Koestner,Would blue wire sound cool or sad?I wonder how people would feel about this test:https://www.audio-forums.com/articles/interconnect-cable-blind-listening-test.15/Or this one ...https://www.stereophile.com/content/minnesota-audio-society-c...
Why is black so popular for components? There is a very good reason why you probably don't like blue. In a dark room our eyes become much more sensitive to blue light and biologically blue light is what triggers our glare response.
Looking for a vinylesk sounding DAC Cleeds,The quote with Plankton in it was me quoting someone else. My comment about wicked high noise floor, etc. was in relation to the link the op posted. That is the sound he wants. I stand by my comments the recording at that link. CD is not in...
Looking for a vinylesk sounding DAC Fake -- Lack of a reconstruction filter in a typical NOS DAC allows high frequencies (aliased images of the original signal from the stair step) to pass which when they hit things like tube amps and speakers with high distortion, they generate fre...
Speaker cabels for dark sounding speakers? Whether Nelson pass has an EE or not, he understand engineering and he would not use silver wire to tune the sound of his amplifiers. He does appear to be a good businessman so perhaps he would include it to sucker in the gullible, but he does not... |
