*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters @townshend-audio,One of us has the required education, and experience not to guess at this topic. I don’t need to guess or consult "All About Circuits", though it is for the most part a well designed website. And yes, I can explain them and I alrea...
How it works! From a common man. I would not think it has zinc oxide at least not now. That would be abrasive to aluminum, copper, even iron, and borderline for some steels.
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters Get a foil inductor, preferably 12awg, and double sided sticky tape. One inductor builds a lot of speaker cable similar to the Goertz or Townshend. Just be careful, your amp may not like the several nF of capacitance.
How it works! From a common man. Rislone is full of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. It is a very poor conductor.
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters Technically there are always reflections, however, the impact on power transfer at audio frequencies is several hundred db down. erik_squires9,935 posts11-18-2020 6:01pmLike @djones said there's no reflections at audio frequencies.
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters w.r.t. a liquid conductor, as long as it has inductance, capacitance and resistance (it will), then it will have a characteristic impedance. However, the only problem to solve is inductance and that would be hard to interleave (for speaker cables).
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters Why would you want 100KHz flat response. You can't hear it, your speakers cannot recreate, and if they could they would likely distort and modulate distortion to audible frequencies. 100KHz amps are mainly to ensure no phase shift in the audio ba...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation As most of us have streaming (not all I realize) I don't see the advantage of a used CD. It won't sound better. It is not convenient. The artist sees even less revenue than streaming. I guess if you are attached to physical media, but I long ago...
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters Maybe the op brought up capacitance, but no one in this thread has raised it as an issue except w.r.t amplifier stability so not sure where you are trying to go with this?
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation At least with streaming the artist may see some money. A used CD confers 0 money to the artist.
How it works! From a common man. Two worlds Millercarbon,Cold Fusion
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation Check out this graph sgreg1. A lot of younger people do buy vinyl, but keep in mind this graph is bought at least 1 album, not the total bought. Over 55 are buying more than ever, perhaps a grasp at youth :-). The group 45-54 bought less in 201...
*WHITE PAPER* The Sound of Music - How & Why the Speaker Cable Matters The op seems rather quiet considering the feedback. Was this a run and gun marketing exercise or an honest attempt at a serious white paper?
Class D Technology Both the switching distortion and non-linear should be addressed. True, the output devices are switching, however, the output devices are unlike other amplifiers as they are not operated in the linear region, which is not actually linear, but oper...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation How can you be price gouged on a non essential discretionary spend? MFG cost for intellectual property is meaningless. Consumers were price gauged with the cost of a CD. It cost the label about $1.50 to manufacture a disc including packaging. |
