SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
Btw, what atmasphere posted was theory that today it just does not happens and all that that you can use balance cable connectuion to the phono stage because th SUT is bs @rauliruegas Clearly you have no idea of what you are talking about. Tra...

you have often mentioned the notion that high gain phono input stages need to be designed to be insensitive to RFI.  What design elements contribute to that good behavior?  Is it simply a matter of limiting the bandwidth? @lewm I wouldn't say i...
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
SUTs are tricky and they do have advantages. The tricky bit is they have to be loaded correctly. Many SUTs are meant to be used with a specific cartridge; such SUTs as a result are meant to be loaded at their output by the 47K input impedance of ...
System that sounds so real it is easy to mistaken it is not live
@lewm You're referring to the B1 subwoofer. One of our customers ran a pair of B1 subs between his A1s. It was helpful to get the bass excursion off of the main panels so it could be lower distortion.

Please don’t try to state what you not0 even experienced because what you posted about is that you have not the experience to listen true bass down to at least 16hz with out almost distortion and at near 120dbs. @rauliruegas That is so funny- R...
Why do Tube Amps sound more romantic v SS amps
Please try to measure distortion of tube amp while adjusting bias/balance of the output tubes, and you’ll see how sensitive it is. Then please repeat the same after 50+ hrs. If you are luky, and your AB tubes are aging the same pace, then distort...

Why do Tube Amps sound more romantic v SS amps
I just purchased a Bryston 2.5 cubed amp (for small 14’ x 12’ x 8’ room) I can’t quite wrap my head around this amp. For example, I have two or three go-to female vocalist tracks (one is- Sam Brown’s solo on PF’s live (“The Great Gig in the Sky”)...
System that sounds so real it is easy to mistaken it is not live
After 4 months I suggested my friend try subs to look for an improvement and before that nothing was wrong with the bass but true self powered subs goes lower than what is need and SL can't goes down there. Latter on he changed the Majestic line...

till that day we try to improve the SL quality room levels performance ( obviously with subs. ). @rauliruegas If you were running an amp like that, I would expect that you might want to use subs. That is a very common experience people have wit...

what is “”than that”, atmasphere? Push-Pull amp tubes misbalance cause increase of odd harmonics, even 5% misbalance is causing more that 0.1% dist. increase easily. keeping tube amp in a good performance condition is very costly, period. if no...
Phono stage options - balanced with XLR both input and output...
@dover Thanks!!
Phono stage options - balanced with XLR both input and output...
Burmester 838 fully symmetrical phono pre-amplifier @dover Curious. The images I can find don't appear to have a balanced input (only RCA connections), but do have a balanced output. Why do you say it had balanced inputs?

the JC 1+ puts around 300 watts at 16 ohms and can handle even higher  impedance with absolute aplomb. @rauliruegas That amplifier is designed to operate as a voltage source. The Sound Lab has an impedance peak of about 30 Ohms in the bass. Tha...

Their output impedance is on the high side but I am not using them to make low bass so, that is not important. @mijostyn  The Sound Lab has its highest impedances in the bass region. That is why solid state amps struggle to drive them- they ca...
