Wildly fluttering woofer Its not a speaker cable :)Its in either the phono section or the setup of the cartridge itself. Since its only in one channel I suspect the phono section, which may have a noisy tube.
World's best small speaker? So far the best small speaker I have heard is the High Emotion Audio Bella Twin. It is 16 ohms, about 93 db 1 watt/1 meter, honest to 36 hertz and has a tweeter that is easily one of the best in the world (its a sort of bending-ribbon driver with ...
25 Watt Tube Amp for 90db Speakers? Viridian's got it. The size of your room, how lively it is and your own listening habits will say whether that amp is enough power.
Volume control for power amp I would install an actual volume control so you can get the setting exactly right. I would use a 100K potentiometer for this task, especially if you plan to use a tube preamp or crossover.
Where to go from Rogue M-150 amps? If you can find a used pair of Atma-Sphere MA-1s they might be in your budget and they certainly work quite well with Vandersteens. Most Vandersteens are tube-friendly. Which Vandersteens are you using?
Does amp output V decrease by adding gain stage? To get to a 1 volt level you will need to add 12db, which is easy with most tubes that might be in a gain stage.
intermitant phono tube cut out? Dunenthem, you are correctly describing an intermittent short in the tube. It is unlikely that it could damage the preamp. A replacement of the same version would probably sound better FWIW.
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation Dragon_vibe, It is true that our amps run kind of hot. But that is not because they are OTLs, it has to do with their being class A, something that you indicated you wanted in your OP. If you want 200-some watts and class A, you are going to get s...
Amplification for stacked quads? We've had a number of customers with stacked Quads. 57s don't take a lot of power, but with 2 pair in series you can do well with a set of our M-60s. The speaker really seems to work best with tubes- if you want to hear all its capabilities that is.
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation Our MA-2s might suit. They make about 220 watts and are very fast (600V/usec).
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation Dragon_vibe, I agree, in a room like that you will need more power.
Bass leaves after amp warms up? Fishing, break-in does not affect bass in amplifiers so much. It does in speakers though. If you have not heard the bass come around in a week we can safely assume (as we did before) that it is not the amplifier at fault.
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation Looking at the specs you will want something with at least 100watts in most rooms.So- how big is your room, how lively is it and how loud do you like to play the stereo? If you are dealing with tube amplifiers, its better to rate the speaker in ter...
Tube amp down, need guidance from the experienced With most pentode or tetrode power tubes these days 2000 hours is about right. After that you are lucky.
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation I like the Amps, to be fast, Accurate and musical as possible. Giving me close to Transistor Amp Clarity That should be no problem :) |
