Anybody else using a distributed array sub system?
noble1K, thanks for posting about the DEBRA.  I'd not known of this approach to subs or sub systems.  The whole concept appeals to me and makes too much sense IMHO.'Distributed bass' in your case  reads as being more 'seamless' with the balance of...
Speakers Women Like
My spouse likes my AMT's.  We owned a pair of AMT1B's decades ago, and even she was sorry to see them go.......until I bought another pair of the raw drivers.  We both agree that they sound lifelike and effortless.  And I get to play with finding ...
Why do you give bad advice?
Hey, Watts!  It's not all that bad all the time. *G*  That particular forum had all the earmarks of becoming a 'black hole' around page 2.  I'd return just to see if it had calmed down...see if anyone had mopped up yet...;)Mapman, it just seems th...
Why do you give bad advice?
Case in point:Thread "Are audiophiles still out of their minds?" is Still roaring on.  Like watching a slow motion cat fight at times.  But some live for conflict apparently....

Any opinion expressed here should be taken with a varying sized salt sample...including my own.  ejr1953 has it right, and the depth of the opinion will vary with the level of esoteria involved.  And as the esoteria level rises, the level of advoc...
Any thoughts on a solid hickory platform under my tt
A suggestion:  If it's density and stability is what you seek, you might try stone. My shop (not audio, sorry) is next to a countertop firm.  They generate an enormous amount of 'drops' from their projects, many suitable in size for any tt/arm comb...
Can I use a multichannel amp to bi-amp my speakers
A multichannel amp will only work to bi-amp if each 'amp section' has it's own input, which (as noted) requires an active xover.  In my case, I've dispensed with a pre-amp, gone to active eq, and use a matrix (actually a pair) to control inputs an...
I've got the Feeva.. and the prescription ain't more cowbell!
"Well, Doctor, what do You think?"*cough*  Well, it seems like a case of FSS (Fresh System Staging) in which the patient exhibits all the signs of satiation.  After all the physical and mental effort, they're lulled into thinking they've got a han...
Help Me Choose Timber Nation Rack-- All Wood or Threaded Rod?
Wood, Home Depot, but basically 'scraps'.The stone  shelves are 'drops' from the countertop/slab shop next door.  Y'all might inquire at a local shop.  You'd be surprised by what they toss.
Help Me Choose Timber Nation Rack-- All Wood or Threaded Rod?
I'm using two 1" thick shelves of granite suspended on 4x4 posts tapered at their bottoms.  It's the equivalent of a concrete sofa...and you wouldn't want to stub a toe on it.  Concrete floor.Vibration isn't an issue here.
How do I integrate my Equipment..
My 2 cents...I'd use the Trans Sound to drive the Crown driving the Dals.  Use the Onkyo for 'source' for the Trans and to run the rest of the show.  Not the best solution, but workable.  Probably close to what you're doing already...Faced with yo...
The illusion of soundstage.
tostados, agreed, the engineer 'sets the stage'...virtually, but that's the modern recording studio for ya....not to mention the other 'enhancments' that can be dialed in.I suspect that given current tech might allow a certain level of 'ambiance' ...
New Bamboo Speakers Feedback
Interesting...I had thought this thread had been taken down.  Perhaps reinstated?  No matter...Bruno, good luck with the KS foray, hope the niche finds you and the product irresistible. *G*I have own campaign of a sort...*S*
Is my room going to suck
I agree with the long wall/near field, a rug...Room sounds 'live', although that can a positive with some speakers.  I'm a big fan of active eq and 'going flat' in spaces like yours.  Your sub will definitely 'rule the room', so keep it leashed. ;...
The illusion of soundstage.
erik's got it sussed, and geoff's got the clues....HRTF is why headphones work so well, and the 'ambient' (whether real or 'created') is what we experience with any given pair of speakers to a greater or lesser degree.  And then we devolve into wh...
