Is anyone thinking about building Walsh drivers? frazeur1, you betcha and thanks for looking in. *G*'Real Life' concerns still top the list of 2do's at this time but I'm still plotting plans. Reliable means of cone forming still concern me...although I've created positive and negative forms to ...

Can you leave class D amps on and not ever turn them off? Mine is a dinky and has been left on 24/7 for the most part, only shut down if out of town for long periods. No noticeable 'start-up' issues, but it's as simple as a pet rock...*G*
How long will tubes last in a pre-amp? Probably like many things, as soon as you stop worrying about them, *poof*. Buy a set of back-ups and put them someplace safe.

The dumbest stereo experience ever! ...and the narrative begins to drift off into the surreal....magic pebbles, indeed. Sounds likes rocks gleaned from the craniums of the cadavers of believers in ultrasonic insect repellers and copper woven into underwear. But hey...if you've go...
Class D Technology I'll cast a vote with mapman re a D with a Walsh driver. Although it's just a 'dinky' driving two pairs of my smaller DIY versions, it's a good fit. As long as I don't get exuberant and crank it to clip, it's amazing to me how well it 'fits' the...
The dumbest stereo experience ever! What kind of doctor? Meaning, his specialty? Some of the oddest people I've met are therapists and shrinks....I like polk432's suggestion, BTW. "Revenge is best served cold." However, I'd use the number of a cheapie cell instead of your 'real...
Sanity test before you start this hobby oleschool, that's how I related to it...In my case, I've got 'champagne taste' with a 'cool water' budget. So I fart about with what amuses me, rather than chasing the diminishing zeros behind the decimal point or perceptual differences 'twixt th...
Amplifier heat...help! Rx for the Cheap Fix...computer fans. Quiet, low power, inexpensive. I've been using them on my equipment for years. As noromance noted 10/30, you could opt for a server rack frame. If installing into a cabinet, just allow for an intake and us...
Inexpensive speaker cables Oxygen-free copper, as large as your connects can handle.I remember reading an analysis by a materials chemist who looked into the subject. Anything else actually degraded electron flow, which would allow for the subjective differences noted by l...
Sanity test before you start this hobby My unobtainium cables add such a richness and depth to my gear that I'm literally besides myself...although we can't come to any sort of agreement whether or not a gold, silver, or platinum stylus in the gramophone's arm is of any consequence. Pe...
Sanity test before you start this hobby Hmmm....I suspect it's too late for a 'sanity test', whatever that might consist of, much less indicate.Damage control may be the best solution, although it will vary widely with the extent of the 'infection'.Seems like a great opportunity for an ...
Question for sub woofer users Pretty much set and forget. There are variables in the engineering of recordings that will make them 'stand out' or 'recede', but that's kind of part and parcel of 'modern music', genre dependent...Proper placement....'sizing' or 'scaling', takin... |
