Stack enough of them and you'll have a version of the typical live concert line array.  Insanely loud, and capable of accepting more power than your home wiring can handle.  Can break any lease that any fool would let you sign.  Would bring the lo...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
The 'Wall of Sound' was brilliant.  What came through it...subject to debate. ;)
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
Having been to a couple of GD concerts, I did happen to notice the great majority of the listeners were 'altered' in some fashion or another.  They, like the majority of any group, had their good days and the not-so-good ones.  The albums and stud...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Those who can afford them, swear by them. Those who can't, do without. Those who can, swear they can hear the differences. Those who can't, can't really care. And hasn't this issue been beat to a pulp enough?  It really starts taking on the appearance...
RMS Power?
When it comes to watts, there never seems to be enough to satisfy some, regardless of how it's measured.Ultimately, if you can't stay in the same space with it, it ought to be enough.  Unless you're hooked on the smell of things starting to fry.  ...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
Ah, the Dead...still among the living....*S*Although not a 'camp follower', I still enjoy and admire what I heard when...and having heard the Wall of Sound live on a 'better day' for the band, it's still a 'high water mark' on the wall of my mind....
Outdoor Garage Speakers
Just play something the neighbors might enjoy occasionally....;) *L*My take on 'cheap thrills'...  I had 3 pairs of inexpensive Pioneer bookshelf speakers that I mounted into a vertical 'line array' pair.  Think 'concert stack'...Wired together, t...

Ah, well good... *S*  Small can be beautiful, and kingdoms don't necessarily need to be vast.  Good luck with yours. ;)  And happy listening...

...a hammer...I know, not practical...;)  Lots of better above, and the nearfield approach can work if your space and the other accouterments will allow it.  Tends to a low SAF, since your space is small....but since her 'embellishments' have back...
Fastest way to correct hifi system?
...and don't forget, when auditioning ANYTHING to bring your own selection of music with you.  Don't take 'pot luck' that the seller or the vendor will have something you're familiar with.  Burn a CD with some favorites if you can, or a thumb driv...
Is Spiking Necesarry?
geoffkait, re  06-26-2017 1:23pm post....Yeah, sometimes spiking the listener(s) vs. the speakers is the easier answer....;)  Does have to be done with a certain amount of trepidation, though.  Too much can create other 'sonic issues'....*G*
Class D is just Dandy!
*L*  Approach me with a 12' pole...10' don't cut it, anymore... *LOL*
Class D is just Dandy!
*L*  Yeah, that cuts to the chase, doesn't it...;)At the extremes of 'performance', there's 'differences' in the nuance between the various amp classifications.  No doubt, no kidding, and no big surprises there.   When tubes met transistors, I rem...

....and I'm happy to see that this thread is having some relatively 'healthy' give 'n take. *G*  (Knuckle bump to Eric)D will become Dominant; it's just a matter of taming the beast to become 'tolerable' to those of us with 'sensitive ears'...*S* ...
Stereo In The Elements
Mmmm, I wouldn't subject 'nice' equipment to the rigors of a garage environment.  Dust is the biggest enemy...heat and cold to the levels you've stated aren't really an issue.  Moisture would be on a par with that, as Erik pointed out.  If the spa...
