Are 500 hours too many for a used hi-end cartridge?
Buying used cartridges is akin to buying used record albums. You must be careful and screen both the cartridge and the seller IMO. What does the stylus look like under magnification? Does the seller have good vinyl practices? 500 hrs is on the cus...
Tung-Sol 7581A......Wow!!
One week of break in. I've played 2-3 hrs every night. Some nights 4 or more. I'd guess I have at least 15 hrs on these tubes....probably 20. I still question these tubes. Everything is good except vocal placement is recessed but not all the time....

@reubent I wanted to thank you for the Radio Paradise recommendation in another thread I read. Just tried it and it is nice for hearing new music. Would have messaged you but didn't see that option.arte
What would you buy
I’m impressed with what Rel subs  do for sound. Not only do they add bass but they add a bigger sound stage and air to your main speakers. They also connect to your speaker output of your amp, making a dedicated sub output unnecessary. I can’t arg...

I have most all their earlier albums but  I’m not sure I realized how good Crack The Sky is until their "Live Sky" album. The musicianship is phenomenal. On one song they flow in and out of different melodies & time changes so smoothly as to m...

@nuttyNice. That was a staple back in the mid 70's. I haven't listened to that in a while. I like "Paper Money" too
Tung-Sol 7581A......Wow!!
@wolf_garcia No blue glow but very musical. And cheap...if you can find them. eBay is the only place I've found them now. I bought my last set from Cryoset which is not in business anymore
Tung-Sol 7581A......Wow!!
@wolf_garcia I had been switching back & forth from Gold Lion KT-66 to the Russian 6p3se/6n3ce. The 6p3se sounded similar to the KT-66. Great bargain IMO. Yeah, gotta love that blue glow.

@tuberistI read 2 threads about these tubes and most everyone  said something similar to what you have said. And I am overall satisfied because I think it is the dynamics which are causing  what appears as brightness. And its just that one part in...

Questions about recording vimyl to computer?
@cleedsBut digitizing an LP is so tedious and time-consuming I’d typically rather stream or play my existing digital files than endure the LP-to-digital transfer processI’m beginning to see your point. The more I learn, the more I see the work inv...
Questions about recording vimyl to computer?
@cleeds I’m not doing this to preserve the LP’s. Just like cassettes that I used to record too, these will be played on a different (& easier) medium. I too have 50-60 yr old records. And you are correct that they play fine. But at 69 yrs old ...
Questions about recording vimyl to computer?
@herman  People complain because a service costs $15-20 a month. Are you kidding me? I used to spend sometimes hundreds a month on discs and vinyl for a few titles. Good point. One difference is that you get to own the disks on tangible media. I...
