To damp or not to damp JMW-9 Sig ? FTR, I thought about trying less fluid. I thought it may have been over filled. But there was no fluid on the underside of the JMW-9 arm when I took it off of the pivot. That made me believe that there was not too much fluid. The trough was about ...
To damp or not to damp JMW-9 Sig ? OK, I tried dampening the arm last night and didn't like what I heard. The sparkle left the music. I read that Harry said if the cartridge was damped then not to damp the arm. The Dyna 20XL is damped.Would've got back on this sooner but have been ...
How Much Have You Lost Thru' The Upgrade Process? I don't think I've lost anything. I've traded some $$$ for items that I wanted. So far, I'm happy with the upgrades I've made. Like you, i don't upgrade as much as some do. But the ones I make are usually researched very good before getting them. ...
Is the Ginko Cloud 11 the best isolation for a VPI I know of one person who has the cloud under a scout who is quite pleased with its performance. Another option is a sandbox. I use one under my ScoutMaster with good results. However it is a DIY project. FWIW, I also have the motor platform separa...

Tube pre with H/T Passthrough and Sub Out I'm not sure why you need the sub out, nor am I familiar with any 2 channel preamps with that feature. However HT bypass and phono preamp can be found on the Supratek. They get lots of good reviews.
What was your biggest vinyl surprise for $.99 About 3 yrs ago I met a fellow at the Habitat store while looking through the albums. I was looking at classical and he asked me if I liked classical. I told him that I was pretty new to the genre, but liked it fairly well. He said he had a lot of...
How far would you drive to audition a component? Not very far considering that the components sound is going to change, maybe even dramatically, when you get it home and put in with your equipment and in your room.I have been more successful in buying a single piece by reading user & profess...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage Audioezra, I would appreciate a review of the 2 preamps. I am in the market for a preamp and am looking very seriously at the Supratek line and the Bent passive. I have a CJ 2500A amp now and wanted to put a tube pre with it to see how tubes sound...
Preamp Deal of the Century I have wondered lately about the idea of separates when it comes to the phono stage. I know that separates have been the generally accepted way to obtain higher resolution, however I am not entirely sure of all the ramifications. Separate power su...
Preamp Deal of the Century Thanks Ray. I think I will wait till the first of the year and get the Chenin. I am told that its phono stage is better than my Wright so it seems to be worthwhile to get it. Also it seems that I have read that the Chenin has adjustments to help o...
Preamp Deal of the Century Thanks Amandarae & Kgturner. I thought that the HT bypass issue had probably been resolved by now, but the length of this thread (about 6.2 million & counting) is prohibitive in finding out. I had also heard good things about the phono sec...
Preamp Deal of the Century I'm thinking very seriously about ordering the Chardonnay but I have a few questions. From my reading of the first couple of pages of this thread, it seemed that the theater bypass was problematic and caused some troubles? Has this problem been so...
Preamp Deal of the Century OK so here I am looking for a new preamp and really considering the Conrad Johnson LS17. I would rather have the 16, but i can't afford that right now. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the 17 when i decide to come here and see what other...
Help with vinyl frustration? Dan ed, even though the Wright Phono preamp has 65 db gain and is able to accomidate the cartridge, when i tried a previous LOMC cart, I got a tube rush problem. However i think I had the cartridge loaded wrong due to my misunderstanding of loadin... |
