Best software for ripping cd's to FLAC? Exact Audio Copy (EAC). There are a number of threads on this here.. do a search.
Voltage Adaptation - Help an Unknowledgeable Buyer I think you should be fine, the frequency should not be an issue for this sort of a component. The voltage conversion would surely affect a power amplifier's sound quality... but I don't think it would be a problem for a CD player.
Good Budget CD and integrated???? Check out integrateds from Creek, Rega or Roksan and mathcing CD players... great British HiFi values that might fit your ticket.Alternatively, you could also check out Linn Classik, an itegrated CD, Tuner and amp that has received very good reviews.
I'm done Really Ecruz,I have the Unison Unico running a pair of Triangle Antals. The Unico has a tube pre-amp stage- thus like a tube pre with a solid state power amp. This seems to be a particularly good match with my Triangles with awsome midrange, dynamics, an...
I'm done Really Which one did you upgrade, the TAD 150 or the McCormick DNA?I´ve gone to an integraded and couldn´t be happier... no itch to upgrade yet... (been 6 weeks).
Cheap SACD Player? Did you say cheap? The Samsung HD 841 universal player (also branded as a Toshiba 4960)was offered for modification by both RAM and EVS when still in production. There are some rave reviews/discussions on audio asylum. In stock form this player is...
Speaker Selection The four speakers on your shortlist, although all good, have very different qualities and each would "match" different with whatever system you have. So my recommendation would be careful system matching based on your amplification... and the char...
Best way for audiophile to rip CDs No, a CD-ROM drive can speed up the process 52 times... a cd changer will only do real time when you rip-not a good idea. I second Ketcup, ExactAudioCopy is the way to go. Keep in mind that some say 'speeding up the process' of copying may degrade...
Is there a good quality speaker switch out there? I believe Bryston makes one, which is probably the best you are going to get. But I do think that introducing a switch in the chain with additional binding posts will degrade the signal in any case. You might consider something like Niles volume c...
cd carousel for hard drive cd archive Absolutely not. For optimal sound quality, use a good CD rom drive and extract the audio files using EAC (Exact Audio Copy).
How Does My Rotel 955AX Stack Up? There has been a lot of advances in DACs over the past 10 years, and given that the 955 was a budget player at the time, it should be quite easy for you to find a universal player that outperforms your old rotel for less than $500. If you are real...
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass? Bryston and Triangle may not be the best match out there, where both have reputation for being bright. That said, I think you really need to replace the source. Notice how the problem gets worse when you switch to the television sound via digital ...
Is surge protection needed? A number of good power conditioners are also surge protectors. A surge protection that would, in most cases, improve the performance of a system would be PS Audio high current Ultimate outlet.
Need Integrated to pair with Triangle Antal. I have Unison Unico which do very well with my Antals. But pay good attention to the source, my system was too bright until I upgraded my player-but I also had different amps then.Good luck,
Modded Players Ric Schultz of EVS used to do extensive modifications of these players a while back, but later dropped them in favor of much less expensive Panasoncic DVD players and later Samsung/ Toshiba DVD-A/SACD players, which he described to sound much bett... |
