for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? I have only tried the Intona and never heard it have a negative effect on the sound, just in some cases have no effect. I used a Qutest for a while and thought it improved the sound clearly, but didn’t do any blind a/b testing. I left it in place ...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? In my starting post I said that I used Innuos for galvanic isolation. Sorry meant to say Intona.
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? Lots of great options and alternatives here. eric_squires - Makes sense that if you are combining everything into one box, especially if that includes the DAC, that engineering and cost would make a big difference. Splitting everything apart int...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? Thanks. All my stuff downstream of DAC bought used and broken over last few years. Good way to afford stuff and find synergy. Found that for the set up I described galvanic isolation in usb between computer and dac mattered. Couldn’t discern any ...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? FOMO is a real threat. I am getting into DIY. The next goal is to find a good high efficiency speaker and build SET amplifiers - lot to learn. This post is more about trying to understand what is happening, and how these things are engineered. I t...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? Love those colorful comments! I am not trying to debate whether purpose built streamers are better- there are plenty of other threads on that. I am asking WHY they are better. Certainly the software and handling of music is important, but in ter...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? If antenna why only on the high current input? I think your explanation makes sense, but what do I know. . The main point of the post it’s to understand why a galvanicallu isolated computer into an independent clock can be improved upon (in terms ...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? Amazingly when I plug anything into the “high current” outlet on the Panamax I get all sorts of noise coming out of the components, revealed by the sniffer. Even if I put in a simple floor lamp with no bulb in the socket, the noise appears, with l...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock? Forgot to mention that I have the power amp on one dedicated circuit, the DAC and pre on another. Computer is plugged into a regular wall outlet. Using a Panamax power conditioner on the outlet with the DAC and Pre. No ground loops that I can hear.
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results much appreciate antirunge2. I will stop saying thanks (just think it) to not clog up the conversation.
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results Thanks mspot. Those and maple tree audio seem to be high quality. Could put in a transformer for volume control and diy. Appreciate the tip. Amazing when you get into this how many small shops there are on the web doing really interesting things.
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results Hi Atmasphere - I have found a lot of switches on line, but also reviews saying they were poorly implemented and would affect SQ. I wonder if someone has tried or can recommend a specific switch that is well made and will be transparent.
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results I have a related question - when my preamp broke I made the same discovery while it was away for repair (RME ADI DAC2 now goes directly into McIntosh 462 amp). Both components have balanced connections. I have discovered that my tube pre (ARC LS25...
surprising comparison of tube preamps Thanks to all. Lots of good advice here. Further research and your posts confirm that a single ended pre in the chain certainly can make a positive difference. I like comparing vintage speakers and currently am using a B and W 803 matrix 2. The “s...
What speakers work with low wattage class A amps Maybe I should turn the question on its head and ask: What class A amp that is between 5K and 10K or so can drive speakers like the Celestion 700se. or Harbeth 30.2. I guess that is like asking what are some good higher watt Class A amps in that p... |
