Beginning of a new journey...
@yyzsantabarbara Thanks. I found that since I have a nice two channel system in my study I'm rarely if ever listening to headphones. I think you made the right move with the Empy since it has a laid back approach to sound which, at least in my opi...
The problem with Magicos
@kenjit You might be on to something. I tell you what keeps me up at night is that one of these days someone will try to pair them up with schiit audio. At that point, the noise trapped inside the speakers would get so flatulent that they might ex...
Speaker upgrade
@erik_squires  You have been preaching about room acoustics and treatments for a long time. I finally took your advice and ordered a few treatments from GIK. If I don't like them I will be sending the invoice to you ... j/k
Which speakers to be ''in'' the music?
OP -- Based on what you're describing, what you want is the holographic, three dimensional sound of tubes. I don't know what amplification you're using, but have you considered getting a tube amplifier and staying with your current speakers?
Any advice? Parasound A21, Ayre V5xe, Benchmark AHB2, or Bryston 4B3?
I owned the Parasound A21 for two years. For whatever reason, I never warmed up to it. It's good value for the money, but if you can stretch your budget there are better options out there. Of course, I'm mindful of the fact that it could have been...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
Sorry I meant to say Cerious power cord, not speaker cables.
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
@ryder You are absolutely on point! The Luxman is definitely sensitive to cable changes. I have had the Cerious speaker cables for a few years now. I originally bought them when I used to have Parasound A21. When I replaced the stock cord with the...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
Hi @jjss49 Regarding ARC supplied power cords, I had the same question. In fact, the new buyer reached out to me and was wondering why I didn't include the original cord. I reached out to ARC customer service directly, and they told me that the GS...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
Next time please be more specific the first time, so we can avoid this kind of discussion again...Lol! you're a funny lil' dude! I don't remember asking you to partake in this discussion. Don't let the door hit you on your way out. And once you're...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
@jjss49 Yes, the ARC came with a very thin (I think 18 guage) wire which kind a surprised me. Except for the first couple of days, most of my listening was done using the same Cerious Technology PC. I am still quite surprised by how much of a diff...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
Sure. And you’re free to butt out :)
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
So I thought I'd update this thread since a few things have changed in the last few days....I bought the ARC GSi75 and was totally amazed at the sound quality. The sound was lush, huge midrange that easily filled the room, and amazingly 3D and hol...
Hegel h590 or Accuphase e460 with Harbeth 40.3
@beppep -- please accept my apology for misconstruing your post. We have seen many times where someone who just joined starts trashing a particular brand. In many cases, they are shrills for some product or have an ulterior motive. Reading your la...
Harbeth P3ESR vs the new XD
Also, keep in mind that it will take quite a while (100+ hours at least) for the bass to improve. I was initially dissatisfied with bass response, but boy did it improve after 100 hours or so.
Hegel h590 or Accuphase e460 with Harbeth 40.3
Hegel and 'no grip on bass'? I only heard the Hegel 390 briefly, and I think it does bass better than any other amp I've heard. 'Low dynamics' with Hegel, this poster is a joker!
