Living in Japan. Any opinions on amplifiers?
Put Leben on your list as well.
DAC Choices - $5,000 to $7,000
I tried to live with the ASR darling Topping D90 for more than a month. Detailed, sharp, uninvolving, non-musical. Period.
DAC upgrade?
Agree with @erik_squires. Your existing DAC is quite good at that price point. I owned a Topping dac and I can tell you that you won't hear any improvement. Have not heard the Schiit DAC.
Pass Labs Int 25 vs Int 60
I haven't read the review yet, but I can pretty much guess what it says. This is by far the best, bar none, amp Steve has ever heard. This is it! The end game, the final stop!Give him 6 months and you'll hear about Pass Labs shortcomings when the ...
Help - Opinions - Amp for Sonas Faber Olympica III Speakers
@greywolf You have really, really good speakers. I'm sure the amp you bought will be quite good, but I feel you owe it to yourself to try something that will be on par, price-wise and sonically, with your speakers. I don't know your budget but I h...
Some DACs I am Considering-Any thoughts?
OP: As you can see above, most people will suggest DACs they already own or are quite familiar with. I suspect that from an SQ perspective, they will sound more alike than different with minor variances. I was in a similar boat last year, and for ...
Raven Osprey vs Octave 110 with low sensitivity speakers
Not everyone likes how high sensitivity speakers sound. It's not a 'trap', rather personal preference like anything else in this hobby.
question for Luxman L-590AX owners
I guess I must be lucky then. Zero hum or buzz on my AXII even if I put my ear right next to it.
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
I second, or third, the subwoofer suggestions. It's not just the bass, but the improvement in soundstage (especially depth) and imaging is quite noticeable. One is better than none, and two are better than one.
New to analog
I really appreciate the suggestions and well-thought out responses. Reading through the comments I've realized two things. First, getting into analog is even more complicated than I thought, but I was kind of half expecting it anyways. It certainl...
New to analog
Thorens, Technics, Nottingham, all sound like great suggestions. Keep 'em coming folks. I've also heard good things about VPI and Rega. I have been buying used equipment for a very long time with great success (knock on wood). But am I to assume t...
Inexpensive CD Transport...
I watched Steve's video on Leak. I still can't figure out if he liked it or not. Knowing his mannerisms from watching a ton of his videos, I don't think he is particularly enthusiastic about it.
You Tube sound comparisons
I for sure enjoy the process of buying audio equipment, whether used or new. In fact, I get sad once I've bought something. Lol!
Sub matching...REL with Klipsh
If you can afford t7i go for it. It will be more future proof if you move your system to a bigger room or upgrade speakers.
Upgrade Hegel H300 to Luxman 590AXii or else
What specific improvements are you looking for that you feel the Hegel H300is lacking?
