Now I am in a Delimma
In my experience, the problem with this type of sound is that while they get your attention during short auditions, the same 'live' sound characteristic might be too much for longer listening sessions. The Klipsch speakers that I have auditioned a...
Moving up the Harbeth line
@redwoodaudio -- what a beautiful room you have there! I could sense the calm and serenity just by looking at the pictures. @chorus -- I had never heard of Danny or GR Research for that matter. But will definitely check him out. Thanks for the sug...
Moving up the Harbeth line
To those who commented on the C7s, I agree that the room, associated equipment, and setup make a huge difference. I only heard them once for a short duration, and it is quite possible that it was a one-off. I would love to audition it again, but u...
Horn speakers , high efficiency but not “shouty”
A friend owns the Zeus Ellipse DX45 speaker. It's a back loaded horn design, and the guys says it's one of the best he's ever owned. I have never heard it in person (he lives in another state), but something I might consider in the future.
Moving up the Harbeth line
Also @whipsaw and @big_greg -- both the M30 and SHL5+ remain very high on my wish list. I need to decide which one will be a better fit for my listening room. I feel that M30 is probably going to be in the sweet spot that I'm looking for, i.e. ret...
Moving up the Harbeth line
@mspot -- you might be right about the power specs on the Blackhawk. But from now having owned it for a few months, I can tell you that this unit goes just as loud, with appropriate dynamics, as my previous Cronus Magnum II which was rated at 100 ...
Moving up the Harbeth line
Appreciate the responses. So I measured the distance again, and I was a bit off. I sit almost 9 feet away from the speakers, not that it makes that big of a difference. So the previous room was not that much smaller at 10x13 but had 10 foot ceilin...
Moving up the Harbeth line
BTW, I purposely left out the C7ES3 model. Heard them at a friend's house a few years ago, and found them to be a bit too high energy for my taste. Also, I sit about 7 feet away from the speakers.
Best stands so baby doesn't knock speaker over
OP: If you have the space, maybe get a credenza that fits your space, a pair of isolation stands (e.g. IsoAcoustics Aperta 300), and call it a day.If you cannot do that, look for stands with a wide and sturdy base, and where the columns can be fil...
WILSON AUDIO.....BIG NAME, BIG PRICE........ARE THEY THAT GOOD?
I now live in an area up to my gluteus maximus in Range Rovers brought in by transplant residents who rave about them. And why does your Range Rover smell like curry?Wow! Xenophobia smells worse than curry if you ask me.
What frustrates you the most about seller’s for sale ads?
On a couple of occasions, I saw a dealer offering a used or demo product at an incredible price. When I contacted him, he told me that the product sold a few days ago and for some reason he wasn't able to take the ad down, but he would be able to ...
Help Me Choose or Confuse Me More
Between KEF LS50 and Harbeth P3esr, it will come down to your preferences in music, as well as what you prioritize in terms of sound signature. KEF is an imaging champion, so if that's what you want in your music, I'd go for the LS50. I owned the ...
Streamer wanted
I think you should still consider the Sonore opticalRendu. Small Green Computers sell the bundle (opticalRendu + power supply + converter + fiber optic cable) for $700 less than the Lumin UI Mini, and IMO provides superior sound quality. Otherwise...
Audio envy - dang!
I have always been impressed with the AE products (already own speaker cables, XLR cables, and Ocean 2P), but I must say that they’ve outdone themselves with the Mega 3 power cord. I was expecting some improvement but was not prepared for the expe...
Bass Vs speaker efficiency
@atmasphere -- sorry I don’t know how I missed your response earlier. I really appreciate the explanation. It seems to me that you’re basically implying that the primary reasons the manufacturers continue to build low efficiency speakers has to do...
