Stay grounded
Any experiences with grounding boxes on negative terminals of speakers out there?
Will DAC always sound better going straight into a Power Amplifier?
@willgolf +1, I’d like @atmasphere‘s view on this as there seems no role for a pre if the dac has a decent analogue stage and attenuator other than to add distortion.
Will DAC always sound better going straight into a Power Amplifier?
A normal modern DAC will output at min. 2v RCA or min.4v balanced. That is equal to a normal preamp output. Forgetting weird impedance mismatches for the moment, the only job left for the preamp is attenuation. If the DAC has a good relay based ra...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
@Jerrybj, sorry, I really don‘t see the point for that one. Putting an OCXO switch behind the modem is the way to go…
Anyone using a LAN isolator?
@jjss49    +1, just ahead of the streamer, or Etherregen in case you have one
Audio Note Power Amps
Get a Wavac and never look back
From Benz to?
I am running both a Benz variant, the Scheu-MC and a Zyx Universe. The Benz is nice and has a lot of jump factor, in terms of fine detail, spatial resolution and timbre the Zyx is clearly superior.

@steakster,   mine is your No.3
Stay grounded
Amp, dac and Etherregen are grounded to the common ground via the earth point of the power conditioner. As this didn‘t work for the server, I experimented with the AR device and liked the result.
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
While amp circuits may lead to very similar outcomes there are vast differences in power supplies. And Ralphs argument on differential harmonics between Tubes and SS certainly concurs with what I hear
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
Anyone who as ever listened to a world class amplifier knows that this discussion is baloney.

I guess calling yourself an audiophile when you refuse to trust your ears is a bit of a misnomer🧐
2019 300B tubes that are worth the money?
The most solid 300b tube in my experience is the EAT. I have the Takatsuki as well, good sound but less solid construction. The EAT tubes are not well known but highly recommended
Go Cat8!
@emailists,   I am glad you enjoy the little tweak. Like you I keep marvelling at how little we still know about digital sound transmission and how spending not very much can have such good effect. Enjoy the music
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
Why limit yourself to amp/preamp. While certainly not ‘ending the debate’ the same applies to in no particular order: dacs, cartridges, streamers, cd-players … The acknowledged measurements of performance are at best a limited subset of parameters...
