So, Andy, even though the 2.4, like the earlier designs, does control diffraction very well, its lower tweeter creates a time discrepancy between side and top diffraction. That effect would be extremely subtle, such that I would be surprised if ...

Just for jest, one way to eliminate (or mostly) diffraction is to use horns such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz7biTHWv4c I wish I had one of those :-)

Can’t say I’ve noticed this trait, Andy2. Some songs with the mix in one channel seem to emanate well outside the bounds of the speakers. The CS2.4 does this at least as well as the CS1.6 and Vandy 2Ce Sig II. bettlemania,I suppose it could be re...

There is a sonic trait on the CS2.4 that I wonder if you agree.  Maybe Tom can provide his inputs.  In speaker design the baffle is pretty important to the sound which has to do with diffraction which I won't go into detail here since it will just...

Those CS2.4 are mine. I am selling my entire system. I still have a secondary system but not quite as upscale though. I have not had any luck yet :-).  I am not looking to purchase any speakers to replace the CS2.4.  I probably will build my own.
Should an amp have a "personality"?
Neutral, Natural, what is it really Some have made the accusations that every component has its own sound personality therefore nothing is "neutral". Then why professional reviewers and people keep using the word "neutral"? Kind of a mystery. I t...
Amplifier current vrs watts; why is current more important?
arguing against viridian is like talking to a brick lols.

On the subject of amplifier, I swapped out my current amp for something a little less powerful.  I have a spare SimAudio Moon W3 amp that is rated at 125W.  Although it only has 125W, it is a fairly stout amplifier.  But is it good enough to drive...

rbstehno,I guess no analogy is perfect!  It's up to one's choosing.

Similarly, extra current (if it were somehow to exist) does not affect bandwidth. What **does** affect bandwidth is output transformers; generally speaking the bigger you make them the less bandwidth you get. This seems to be limited to tube am...

No No. I'm not copping an attitude. That's not my way of telling you to get lost. I'm just trying to give you my honest 2 cents on it is all. I am not sure who should get lost not having any decent to say.
Should an amp have a "personality"?
ivan_nosnibor,do you have a problem?  you posted as if someone just punched you in the face.

As to your response to jetter's comment, have you considered trying higher efficiency speakers? I think ultimately every speakers have their compromises.  I currently use the Thiel CS2.4 which I like a lot being time-phase coherent.
Should an amp have a "personality"?
jetter,For example, if I need a tube amp that has the same drive as the W7, I would probably have to spend a lot of money.  Of course I could get a 40W tube amp but that won't be enough for most applications.

Our hearing is too complicated and the English language is not adequate to characterize our hearing perceives sound and music.  If we can't agree on the meaning of the word "neutrality" then it's hard to move to the next phase.  If "neutrality" do...
