Proac D38R with SET amp I used to own a pair of D38's ... and I ran them with (wait for it) ... Cary CAD-805AE monoblocks. These have 50W of power. So is 50W enough? If most of your listening is simple stuff (like female vocals or violin solos) at low volume, 50W is ampl...
Any experience with the Aspen Soraya Amplifier? Sorry guys, didn't know if there was an old or a new version of the Soraya. All I know is that Hugh Dean brought it over himself, so I presume it was the latest iteration at the time.
Cary Rocket 88's Cat Eyes Brf is correct, the cats eyes on the front of the amp are only there for decoration. If you have no sound, there is something wrong!
tube amp for ProAc Response.. need suggestions Cary is a classic match for ProAc.
When did you ever hear a system sound so life-like Many years ago I used to walk past my neighbour's house every morning and evening on the way to the bus stop. Sometimes in the evening, I can hear their son practising on the piano. He is quite good, but not concert pianist good. One evening I wal...
Amp to match Avantgarde Uno G2 horn speakers Boy, I would say good luck! Those speakers are the most amp sensitive I have ever heard. They sounded plain awful with an Audio Note Oto SE, and acceptable with a Graaf OTL. I have also heard the Duo's with the Cary CAD-805AE SET, which was a comb...
Amp for Dynaudios Conventional wisdom says that Dynaudios are best with beefy solid state amps. As to which one - pick your poison. Cary if you like a mellow top end and slightly flabby bass, Rowland for a sweet sound but with the other usual SS characteristics, Kr...
Marchand Kevinzoe your proposed solution of using a Marchand to remove low bass from your mains to send to the subwoofers will work and is a very good idea. I am doing the same thing, but using a Behringer until my Marchand arrives. BTW, baffle step compen...
How to integrate phase of a subwoofer with mains? Thank you BRF and Kal, your answers make sense to me. And best of all I won't need to buy any additional testing equipment :)
Decent software for classical LP collection mgmt? I used Collectorz before abandoning it because of the quality of the online database. Scan in the CD (either by putting it in the drive or entering the barcode) and you will get: Bach, Johann SebastianBach, JSBach, JohannBach, Johann SJohann S BAC...
SET the best? I think he is talking about the missing fundamental effect. If the fundamental frequency is f, there will be harmonics at 2f, 3f, 4f, and so on. Even if your system can not produce the fundamental (as has been pointed out, the bass note on a piano...
SET the best? I went the other way - from a Cary CAD-805AE SET to the CAD-211AE push-pull amps. The reason for the switch was because the SET was underpowered for my new speakers. With the old speakers (ProAc D38's) the SET sounded magnificent with certain type...
Has anyone bi-amped with a Cary SLP-05? Silverlight (and Almarg) I thought I should post a follow-up to this thread, given that it was me who asked the original question. I have since bought a pair of JL Audio F110 subwoofers, and a Behringer CX2310 crossover to remove low bass from the...
Any experience with the Aspen Soraya Amplifier? Crozbo sorry for the delayed reply. I only just saw it. Hugh hangs around some other audio forums, I think mostly audiocircle. It is a bit unfair to compare the Soraya to my Cary CAD-211 amps, but I have heard it in my system. The Soraya has much ...
Any experience with the Aspen Soraya Amplifier? Well i'm not exactly a U.S. source because I live in Melbourne, about 10km away from Hugh (who makes the Aspen Soraya amp). It is a sweet little amp, gives my Cary's a run for its money. What would you like to know? |
