Relative Spending on Turntables and Cartridges
So....Since I spent $75,000 on my table, I’ve got to spend $100,000 on my cartridge. I only spent $11,000. @wolfie62, Your comment above immediately brought to mind one of the greatest scenes from the groundbreaking FX drama, "Nip/Tuck".  This ...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
I even think I’m the last one to laugh, as there are seriously people who believe their system will sound like a Grand Opera House because they spent literally tens of thousands of dollars on a couple of feet of cable, putting them on tiny wooden ...
l just discovered another one of the record companies dirty tricks?
Good Grief!  This post makes me wish another member would start an argument over cables.
Need help finding a phono/preamp
@endless108 , you will not be disappointed with the Schiit Mani.  I just received another one to hook up with my 1987 Rega P3 driving a vintage pair of Klipsch Forte II's.  The system is a "house warming" gift to my 29 year old son and his fiancée.
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
In addition, while I might not be able to identify, fix, or modify all the parts of my Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Hemi engine and Supercharger -- I damn well know I'll leave your pansy Porsche in a cloud of burnout smoke.
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
I actually had to read the original post three times to make sure I wasn't missing a hidden joke.  If you truly think a person can't be an Audiophile unless they have the knowledge to open up any audio component and make any repair or modification...

@raysmtb1,Welcome to the audio forum.  I've only been in the forum for about one year, but I've met some really nice individuals that know their stuff when it comes to audio.  REALLY know their stuff and happy to pass on their knowledge.  Many tim...
Best bookshelf loudspeakers under 10,000 for the pair
In my humble opinion, a little old speaker manufacturer in my hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee, has a very nice speaker out now.  The Watkins Stereo Generation 4 is quite amazing.  William "Bill" Watkins, Sr., and Bill, Jr. have built a solid repu...
What Have I Bought?
@crustycoot -- Sounds like you got high just fine without Hi-Fi.  It was special, high times in the '70's when Brown Columbian with buds no bigger than a penny (and loaded with seeds) hit town to replace the Ditchweed Mexican.  Don't know how many...
Questions about using audiogon to sell 1st time
I too am curious about the allegations towards PayPal.  I admit, I don't buy much merchandise using PayPal and I've never sold anything where that is the payment serviced used.  So, @tkwdv34, what are the issues you are describing?  I'd appreciate...
Seriously considering tube preamp…opinions?
@andrewkelley -- Andrew, I would appreciate if I could pick your brain a minute.  I've been in the market for a tertiary listening system in my house for about 8, long months. After much research reading, asking Forum questions, and watching YouTu...

Frustrated with Vinly
jay73, I wonder if I'm the only one that read all the posts, especially the additional posts you made.  From what I have read, the Thorens 148A is a very nice Fully Automatic Turntable.  If you are looking at spending up to the $2,000 range (the p...

You are truly a gentleman.  Merry Christmas!
$30K DAC in a $70K system - wise or ridiculous?
Bottom line, it is your money.  Would I spend $30K on a DAC?  Not only no...but "hell f**king no".  In my opinion the price exceeds the return on what our normal human hearing can process.  I'd rather spend far less on a DAC if I needed it, and if...
