Substantial Upgrade
From experience — in your listening room, do you have wood suspension floors under a concrete foundation like most colonials or high ranches in the US? If so and you choose the Rega, make sure you also buy the shelf for it — footfall is a nasty at...
REVEL performa3 f208 or TEKTON Moab
Jay’s Audio Lab on YouTube (whitecamaroos here) is setting up the Tekton Ulfberht with upgraded tweeters ready to challenge his $110k Wilson Alexx. That I’m super interested in, not this silly in-fighting back and forth.
Feedback, thoughts, real experience with the Bergmann Magna turntable?
@tablejockey Thanks. Not many reviews or couldn’t find much on all the audio forums. Not sure what that implies if anything. Comes with the sound-smith paua mkII cart which seems like a perfect synergy with my new Andros deluxe II phonostage.
Speaker upgrade
@soix Ok you totally missed my point so I’ll try to simplify as best I can. If you haven’t figured it out yet from the countless threads, and by an order of magnitude, even more countless posts, everyone has a flavor of speaker they worship and de...
Sound quality impact - preamp vs power amp?
Omg Isn’t it simple? We all know this — Start at the speaker and work upstream to the source. So logically the proper matching amp would be next.
Speaker upgrade
I heard “them” and it’s just another well made box speaker; they really are a dime a dozen where everyone has a favorite cause what it really comes down to is what music you predominantly listen to. And that should determine the speakers you demo ...
Speaker upgrade
I’m thinking of taking a flyer on a used pair of Borresen 05.
An audio rack that really does make a difference.
@georgehifi I always wondered why I see all these high end systems and at dealers too with their racks between the speakers and think it’s got to negatively impact the image and soundstage. I get that the benefit is shorter wires and I guess it ca...
Speaker upgrade
I’ve noticed that the resale on most speakers on sites like a’gon are ~50 percent of MSRP give or take +/- 5 percent. Not sure what they actually sell for but that opens up a price point for you of at least $70k if you wanted to consider buying us...
The problem with Magicos
Why does this thread qualify for being so offensive as to needing to be reported? That is a scary comment but I guess not so much these days. Anyway If you don’t like the OP’s crazy theories, just move on and don’t participate. Using the current v...
Easily the best and most significant sonic tweak one could ever make!
The simplest way to describe the impact (in audiophile “speak” using jargon from the typical review or marketing materials) is that “the veil over the music has been lifted”. This might just be the only legitimate example of that effect.
Easily the best and most significant sonic tweak one could ever make!
@sokogear. Agree not a tweak, that was a creative way in doing my part to get a majority of the members to click on the post!
Easily the best and most significant sonic tweak one could ever make!
@johnmohr thanks that’s right on point, and what I was trying to say earlier.
Easily the best and most significant sonic tweak one could ever make!
@wyoboy Yes, at least in my case, I needed to wear one for the left and they adjust it to match your right. I think it’s an equilibrium thing and will also help preserve your left ear longer if it’s a genetic trait. I have hearing loss in my left ...
Easily the best and most significant sonic tweak one could ever make!
@agosto.  The answer is no. I forget how it was explained to me by the audiologist and doctor, but basically the HA needs to be programmed /calibrated/EQ’d whatever the right technical term is to fill in or raise the volume at the frequencies that...
