Integrated for Vandersteen 2ce sigII No internal phono. You'll be better off buying an outboard unit anyway. Tons of very good affordable phono stages out there. Two of my favorite units are the Grado PH1 and Parks Audio Budgie. They don't come up used often though.
> $500 integrated amp to drive JBL 530 speakers full range NAD on your list, but I'd look hard at Marantz in your budget. Marantz will be a tad warmer sounding than the NAD which might be better with the JBL. The NAD is really good but not sure on these speakers. There's a nice used Marantz PM8004 on here...
JBL LS40 a good speaker? If you are going to drive them a little hard then the MA Silver 2 is not the speaker to look at. Monitor Audio makes some great speakers and I bought my daughter a set but they just don't play too loud compared to most others in their price range....
Integrated for Vandersteen 2ce sigII As far as your Marantz against the Parasound Halo integrated... yeah the Parasound is better but not by much honestly. One of the shops here in town carries both lines so I know both pieces. If you didn't already own the Marantz then sure go for t...
Who has upgraded their Cambridge AZUR 840C CDP to the new AZUR 851C CDP? Kimber SS is a very good cable; used a KCAG a lot which I like very much. In comparison my Clear Day Cables balance is very similar to the KCAG. The WyWires Silver has all the extension of the other cables we're talking about here but by compariso...
Who has upgraded their Cambridge AZUR 840C CDP to the new AZUR 851C CDP? Never owned the 840C, but have compared the two side by side on my dads system. They’re definitely different from each other and I can see how some may prefer the older unit. To start with the casework on 851C is hands down a better box. Some feel...
Recommendations for IC and speaker cable Surprised there’s not already a few Clear Day Cables post noted before me. Very nice cables, and for the money they are Great but if your budget can double or triple the Clear Days, WyWires Silvers is a significant step up. Yep, they’re more but t...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report Bob Dylan - Fallen Angels... not bad.
Integrated for Vandersteen 2ce sigII The Marantz will work. Hard to put anything on Vandies and not sound nice. Should sound real nice.
CD players that make for a great transport If you're just looking for a transport I believe the Cambridge Audio CXC uses the same drive as the 851C.
CD players that make for a great transport mesch - What is your current DAC? If you don’t already have a DAC then just buy the one box. Cambridge 851C. The 851C is a great sounding player and very versatile.
Best interconnects for Rotel 1072cd player Clear Day Cables IC $165 - competes with cables 3-4X times the price easily. Their Double Shotgun might be outside your budget - $450, but with the savings on the IC you'd be close. The Clear Day IC is hard to beat. If you can't stretch your budge...
Tube advice ARC VT 50, 100 MK I, II and VT200 amps are difficult to bias. If you don't have highly matched tubes it is almost impossible to bias one of these which likely you will if you're lucky only lose a tube and a resistor in the process. If you're not k...
Tube advice lewm and marktomaras you might want to read up on this. http://mycollins.net/audio/artube1.htmlAs far as a tube tester goes I bet Upscale Audio and ARC use a tester before they send out tubes so saying a tester isn't an important necessity for a t...
Speaker cables for paradigm studios I have a full set of Clear Day Cables and still highly recommend them as well but have moved over to WyWires. I doubt I'll get rid of my Clear Days because I like them so well and still believe they're hard to beat for the money. I have been switc... |
