Power amp for Modwright LS100 All good. It's going to come down to what you like. Everything noted on your shortlist is very nice stuff. I own a LS36.5 so I'd say start with ModWright and Pass if you're staying SS. If you're thinking tubes then I think it gets more difficult b...
ARC Ref 210...tube virgin I wouldn't rule out a Pass amp. Do your research regarding heat, tube life and cost to re-tube. ARC makes wonderful - great tube amps, but not for me. I'll stick with my Pass amp with a tube preamp.
Newer Kimber v. Older Kimber cables Agree on the PK's. I have a couple last generation PK10 Golds and a great cord for the money. I recently picked up a couple WyWires Silver Juice II PC's and prefer them over the Kimber's. The Kimber's are close but the WyWires have a much wider an...
Newer Kimber v. Older Kimber cables I've not directly compared the older Kimber to the newer but have heard some and own some. In the day I felt the entry Kimber was much better than similar priced AQ, Monster and etc. First set of ICs I bought directly from Ray over the phone in th...
Another 'Which Amp' Question If you're thinking someday to get your hands on a set of ML CLS II's, I wouldn't just walk but run away from the Krell KST100. Never heard them together but have separately. I think that combination could be cold, lean and fatiguing. I'll admit I'...
Most compatible speaker/interconnect and power cables with ARC ref system? Agree completely on the SR Black fuses. Don't even mess with the Reds; go straight to the Blacks.
where's the best difference? For a cheap tweak, but I'll admit for a fuse... really? Synergistics Research Black fuses impressed me. Try them on your existing gear and give them plenty of time to burn in. 30 day money back guarantee from all vendors. You have nothing to lose....
Most compatible speaker/interconnect and power cables with ARC ref system? You have some nice gear that's for sure. Agree, talk with ARC. I would suggest take your time, and try to demo as much as you can in your own home. Many cable companies will send you their cables to try at home if no local dealer; they'll want a c...
Is upgrading pre worth it? You're not hearing what your amp is capable of. I agree with others that the preamp has more to do with the sound of a system over an amp; they're both important. I've heard ok amps sound very good with a great preamp, but not a great amp sound gr...
Audio research 100.2 any good ????? The 100.2 is great amp. I owned one and only moved to a bigger amp because of speakers that demanded more power. It will play just fine on you MA Silver 8's no problem and can reach a lot deeper than your current speakers. Parasound A21 is a nice ...
Another 'Which Amp' Question Audio Research 100.2 if 100 watts is enough. Don't come up often and when they do they don't last long. Very musical amp with magic that destroys newer amps made today at its used price. Look it up on the web.
2 prong power cable If your PM11S3 has the ground floating, a three prong PC will still be fine. Doubt you will find an audiophile two prong cable. I believe some of the older and maybe current PS Audio PC's, the ground pin does unscrew off the plug. Again, a three p...
Recommendation for Improvement over McCormack DNA-225 My X250 is pretty darn good; not at all harsh and I've had a few tube amp lovers comment on its an amp they could live with and I don't see them ever going to SS. I'm sure the .5 is better and likely I'll jump over it to the .8 when and if I decid...
Which Power Cord Not heard either of these cables. I’d suggest contact both manufactures to see if you can do an in home demo to hear them both. Most cable companies outside of the Monster Cable and AudioQuest big boys will work with you and let you return their c...
Recommendation for Improvement over McCormack DNA-225 I picked up a Pass X250 for $2500; drives my Aerial's no problem and they need power. Killer amp for $2500. What's your budget? |
