Solid Stage vs Tube amp
Maybe stay with the SS amp and look for a Tube preamp instead.
Any Bluesound Node2 owners
Pick up an aftermarket power cord and if you can hardwire instead of WiFi. Down the road definitely pick up a DAC as that will make the biggest for the better difference over anything.
Buying a DAC when you can't try it first
opAlso ditch the stock power cord on your Node as an aftermarket or build your own will make a difference and you don’t have to spend that much. The DAC in the Node is decent but adding a DAC down the road will be a big improvement.
My Oppo is a bit too bright
tweak1 I totally agree it all starts with the PS, and don’t at all question the IEC socket didn’t help things but I think I’d still look at a DAC instead of putting the money into an Oppo first. That being said it still might makes sense to upgrad...
ISO Advise on choosing Ayre or Bat power amp
I’m sure both the Ayre and BAT are very nice amps but are you sure they’ll have enough juice to push your Aerial’s to their potential, especially in your room? I would check on that before you make the purchase. I have 7B’s and on those the sweet ...
My Oppo is a bit too bright
Not sure I’d spend a lot on a 105D such as power supply or the IEC socket but no doubt it will help. I’d recommend using your Oppo as a transport and get a DAC. I have an Oppo 205 and it’s not up to my Cambridge 851C which I was using the DAC in i...
Cable Between Node 2i and Chord Qutest?
@ianrmack Your DH Labs is probably a fine cable. Can’t recall if elsewhere you mentioned you’re using an aftermarket power cable on your Node or not but if not that will make a nice improvement. I’m running a Vault 2 with an RME ADI 2 fs DAC and I...
Speaker cables for Sonus Faber Olympica II
My previous cables were all Clear Days including the double shotguns with Paul’s jumpers. I felt they were and are still great cables for the money and punch above their price point but I sold them after moving to WyWires. I started with Silver se...
I DON'T GET IT!!!!!!
Very happy with my Nordost Silver Shadow RCA/BNC. As far as a power cord for your Node I purchased the parts from VH Audio and built my own with their two conductor shielded power cable, tied the shield to the wall plug. For plugs I went with Furu...
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot
Would agree that your system is probably good enough that it would be hard to find cables that would degrade it too much, but we spend what we do for the little differences. Do you have dedicated circuits? If not, you should.
I DON'T GET IT!!!!!!
@jfarkash Try the Audio Clock Trim off and to on to hear what you prefer. My RME can hand it it on or off just fine too but I hear a slight improvement with it off, a little more relax more analog I’d say. Also might want to on your node go to vol...
Need advice please
$2,000 seems steep to begin with. Be surprised if the previous owner is willing to pay any for the fix as it’s used and fairly old. You can ask but I’d say you really wanted this amp for what you paid so probably just makes sense at this point to ...
Bluesound Vault 2i and a Qutest DAC
Been a long time since I’ve listened to a Theta Miles, modified Pioneer player but I’m not surprised it sounded better than a Bluesound Vault on its own. I do remember at the time when the Miles came out I along with the dealership that carried bo...
DAC PREFERENCES TO MATCH WITH NODE2
Another Bluesound / RME ADI-2 fs DAC user. The RME will destroy the internal Bluesound DAC. No MQA on the RME, but you’ll forget about it immediately.
Softest/Warmest digital coaxial cables?
Canare makes a very good coaxial cable and it’s very affordable. I’d start there but give it time to break in to open up. Can be purchased all over the Web and probably Amazon as well.
