RME ADI-2 fs DAC: Not Loving It
A lot of people speak highly of the Cullen power cords. I know before I upgraded the switch power supply I first upgraded the power cord and it made enough of an improvement it provoked me to change the power supply next. I’d strongly recommend ch...
RME ADI-2 fs DAC: Not Loving It
It just might not be your flavor. I have the same DAC and love it. I also have the Teddy Pardo power supply and in my system it was a substantial improvement, fuller sound, better and extended control on the bottom end and the top end definitely m...
Mark Levinson 39 or Wadia 830 for direct to amp?
Been a long time since I’ve listened to the two players mentioned, and never heard either going direct. Took home the Wadia 830 and felt at the time my current ARC CD2 was the better sounding player. Today I’d say pass on both and look at a Cambri...
POowerCord for For the McIntosh MA6900
Just make sure it’s a heavy gauge cable for high current and quality plugs. Doubt a $30 cord is going to smoke the stock one, but good luck. If you don’t have dedicated circuits you will hear a difference but it will be subtle. Dedicated circuits ...
Does the Mark Levinson 331 suck?
Old thread indeed and another reminder it’s a great amp but the 300 series had bad caps that didn’t aged well and costly to replace. Anyone thinking of buying one should make sure it’s been recapped or buy it dirt cheap.
Marantz PM Ki Ruby and RME ADI 2 (Am I crazy?)
I run my RME ADI 2fs DAC direct to my Pass and am really mixed whether I prefer going direct or through my Modwright LS36.5 preamp or not. Without the Teddy Pardo power supply I definitely prefer going through my preamp. With the Teddy however it ...
Cable recommendations for my new (preowned) system...
Even if you don’t have a tight budget, Canare is a great place to start. They do take a crazy amount of time to burn in or open up so don’t judge them for awhile. If you want the next step up in my opinion look at WyWires Blue series or if you bud...
My ProAc Studio 200s are….
Are very nice speaker. Pretty much everything sounds wonderful through the Studio 200. Maybe not as revealing as the Response 2.5 at the time, but it was very easy to drive, and had more warmth. Sounded great with smaller Audio Research tube power...
100W+ solid-state amps known for beautiful mids
Audio Research 100.2 was a nice amp. I wouldn’t say it sounded like tubes but many referenced it to the VT100 of the day. I owned one and it did sound great but needed a couple days being on to really shine, which I kept mine on unless I knew it b...

JBL L100 Classic 75
Indeed the speakers are not that large physically. I’m beating most have seen a pair in person, owned a pair or knew someone that did. For those that haven’t, they probably have seen the famous Maxwell tape blown away ad, and the video I posted sh...
Time to upgrade my turntable?
Not familiar with your preamp, but for $1K I’d keep your current table and either spend a little to upgrade your cartridge or look into a dedicated phono preamp. Not sure spending what your budget is on a new deck is really going to improve things...
What speaker do you passionately want to demo?
I’m going to keep mine to what I’m likely going to upgrade to and not go into dreamland as I have a wife. My current speakers are Aerial Acoustics 7B’s and I lust to hear a pair of 7T’s. Probably have to buy them from that dealer who loves them bu...
Pro DACs vs Consumer DACs
Add a Teddy Pardo power supply and a fine power cord and I bet you find what you’re searching for. I swapped out the switch PS on my RME and it made a world of a difference. The RME on its own was very good, but with the Teddy it is much better.
Should I try XLR?
I find XLR balanced cables drop the noise floor a little in my system, and every little bit helps… right? I use WyWires so I’m going to be prejudice there. I bet if you reach out to Alex, he will either treat you well on a trade or maybe he can sw...
