Arm Heighth on VPI Classic
Stringreen,Funny, I have seen posts stating that the tail a bit down sounds best on the Classic. It seems to me there is simply no point in making general statements as to the position of the tonearm. But with a gun to my head, I'll take parallel.
Does anyone use a RUMBLE filter?
RauliruegasDear Actusreus: probably you don't know how filters works so take a look on internet to learn about other that what Onhwy61 posted. This is your response? I thought you knew what you were talking about. Sounds like you're simply repeatin...
Does anyone use a RUMBLE filter?
11-19-13: RauliruegasDear Actusreus: I have to think that you posted as a joke. No, I'm serious. I'd like to hear your explanation. If your speakers are fluttering trying to reproduce subsonic frequencies that go below the speakers' frequency range...
Does anyone use a RUMBLE filter?
How are you degrading the audio signal when you're removing frequencies that cannot be reproduced by your speakers?
VPI bearing oil/grease?
Dover,I remember you mentioning it, perhaps even in this very thread, but I wonder how much of an issue it is for a turntable bearing where the contact surface is so small, as is the amount of the lubricant used. The very lubricant VPI recommends ...
KAB Rumble filter gets preamp to overload/distort?
It's an overload issue, just as Kevin explained. 50-55 dB of gain for a cartridge with an output of 3.6 mV is way too much. 55 dB works well with my Delos that has an output of 0.6 mV,six times less than the Maestro. I've had the KAB in my chain f...
heavy metal
Thank you for reviving this thread! I missed it when it was originally posted. I think The Sword is awesome. I don't dig the fantasy themes in general, and especially in heavy metal, but the music speaks for itself and it just connects. I was very...
Song With Best Beginning
In my humble opinion, when it comes to an extended intro, nothing can possibly beat "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," with "Riders on the Storm" close second. As far as kick-ass intros, it'd be hard to beat Metallica "Master of Puppets," Alice in Cha...
Can Digital beat our Analog installations?
At least to me, the analog experience is more than just the sound. There is something very organic and deeply satisfying about a vinyl record and the routine that I engage in to get it set up and then see spinning making wonderful sound. No digita...
VTF, VTA, SRA, and 92 degrees - question
Atmasphere Most new LPs I see these days are really well done. You must be joking. The quality of the great majority of today's records is absolutely abysmal. Finding a record that's flat on both sides is a rarity, as it finding one that has no sur...
Benz Ebony TR or Lyra Kleos SL?
What I want to know is how do you run a cartridge with an output of 0.32 mV or less into the MM input? How could it possibly provide enough gain?
Lyra Kleos and VPI Aries 3 - will this work
Anyone using a Lyra on a VPI table? You CANNOT possibly be serious with this question.
Do you know why
I agree with Raul. Reviewers from Stereophile, et al, should make physical evaluation of the records they review, or listen to while reviewing equipment, part of the review. Pulling sponsor ads will never happen since money talks too loudly, but g...
Do you know why
JjrenmanAn awfull lot of the blame is being placed on the record label companies. It seems to me they do not own the pressing plants that would need to slow down their production to ensure less warped albums.Right, but ultimately, the logo that's ...
Do you know why
Raul,I completely agree with your sentiments. I used to curse under my nose for a few seconds, then slap the periphery ring on the newly acquired warped record, and move on. But after experiencing, record after record, new vinyl being warped and p...
