Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I only mention the Precept and AT150anv being good at 47k for those reading who do not have, for whatever reason, the ability to change from 47k. Raul and others have long applauded the virtues of 100k, and who am I to disagree.I personally, when ...

Not a bad cartridge for us numbskulls stuck with 47k either. The biggest surprise was at the end of long break in periods, the rather smooth Precept 220/550ml and the bright, bass boomy At 150ml do sound very close. Amazing to say the least. I have ...
can a new amp amp tame my speakers?
A used Butler 2250 would sound good with the Infinity's, I would think. Lots of power and smooth top end.

If you try something and it doesn't speak to you, move on. It's just so easy, at least it was for me, to limit my choices until everything I heard was "Inbred", and the surprises, big and small faded away. We all listen for different reasons, I gu...

Agree on all points on Mr. Kirk. Adventurous, but always musical and grounded in gospel and blues. Watch out though. It starts with a little Rahsaan, and next thing you know, your listening to Anthony Braxton and your hooked.Rokid2, I have seen th...
Hum from Plasma TV
How about wrapping the cable in tin foil and grounding one end? Probably look silly but should provide shilelding. Or braided shielding from a DIY shop.

Hi Raul, Any thoughts on the 150anv yet? It is to me more like we were expecting from an Audio Technica ML . It is still breaking in at 25+ hours. On another note, the Reso- mat is good. Of course it will be system dependent, but worth checking out...

Cables more hype than value?
Jimyork, I agree with you, as a conservative, that it is hard not to talk past each other on the important issues of our time. Like wire. ;)To wannabe saviors, If you don't want to play with wire, Don't ! You can buy and sell used cables on this s...

Frogman, Thanks for the correction.
Cables more hype than value?
Rok2id, Mr Randi's challenge is, as you allude to, was not about cables, but fear of failure. If I remember, correct me if I am wrong, you had to get 10 out of 10 changes correct. A man was told to walk across a 10' long 2x4 which was laying on th...
Johnny Winter Bootleg Series?
Live Bootleg #1 showed up today and I put it on before my wife arrived home in case it needed volume. It does. This record smokes from start to end. Sound is good for a bootleg. Cymbals a little prominent, but great music.I never understood the se...

Fleib, the 15/20 stylus have to be shortened to fit. The 155lc and 152 snap in square instead of round. The Akai RS180 does not sound right to me, but I will play with it a little more.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul, I just modified a Akai RS180 to fit the Precept. The RS180 is the same as the Atn14, which has a Shibata tip. Closest I can get to a 440 stylus without modifying an Ant 20ss or 152 stylus, which I am not going to do. I will let you know what...
