I was in your position just a short while ago and bought the Signal Cable magic power for my NAD C372. Brightness in a system bothers me a lot, and I wouldn't describe the Signal Cable as bright at all. What I did notice was a tremendous increase ...
Which integrated Amp for Vandersteen 2ce Sig2 ?
Art80342, If you're asking about associated equipment, my setup is more modest than yours--the Vandies with an NAD C372 fed by a Sony Playstation 1 (I know, I know, but I'd replace it if there was a single thing wrong with its sound). If you mean ...
NAD Amp Question
Bananas are easiest by far, as the spades both need to be quite thin and to feed in from the top (potentially awkward) and the hole for bare wire is on the small side for 12G. If the wire is smaller, bare wire works well, though it does still need...
Which integrated Amp for Vandersteen 2ce Sig2 ?
Art80342,If any other Vandie users can jump in with their experience, I'd be happy, but my sense of it when I got it right was that there was an overall balance to the sound--a smoothness from top to bottom, with nothing exaggerated or edgy at all...
Which integrated Amp for Vandersteen 2ce Sig2 ?
Agree with Raindance about placement. Assuming you have the Sound Anchors stands, make sure you have the tilt-back set appropriately for the distance of your listening position and height of your ears from the floor. If the speakers are too uprigh...
Vandersteen 2CE's
Agree with the above posters that your current amp ought to be fine to start, as the Vandies are pretty easy to drive--but the C372 is a great amp and a great match with them. I'm using that combo and love it, though I originally drove them with t...
Dynaudio Focus 140 vs Totem Model 1 Signature
Knownothing,Thanks for these thoughts--and I certainly can believe that you heard the Focus 140 sound good in another context; I'd be interested in hearing the comparison with better gear. Wes Phillips' review was one of the reasons I bought the D...
Dynaudio Focus 140 vs Totem Model 1 Signature
I saw that this thread had been revived recently and thought I might post word on how it all worked out for me. I ended up with the opportunity to buy the original Totem Model One and a pair of the Dynaudio Focus 140s at the same time and do a bac...
No sound and red power light on NAD C372
Thanks, Wscottbellah, but I have checked the speaker selection, tape monitor, and jumpers, too. Nothing had changed except for powering the unit down and up again, and it doesn't play through headphones either. According to the manual, if the ligh...
No sound and red power light on NAD C372
Thanks for the responses. I have tried each of my sources, so the source selection isn't the issue, and I've disconnected and reconnected everything and powered up again a couple of times. It comes up just the same: speaker and source selections s...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
Somebody posted a pair of Totem Model 1s at a screaming deal price this morning. They'd be perfect and well within your budget--fantastic midrange and soundstaging and great, accurate bass that defies their size. Not associated with the seller at ...
Does the Linn 'green paper' seem questionable?
Magic Eraser--wow. Picked up a 4-pack for 3.49 at Target today, sliced off a thin strip of one, and it's perfect. Thanks, guys!
Anyone use CD tweaks
I use Rain-X, especially on scratched CDs. Essentially, I guess it winds up being a chemical polish.
Integrated Amp Bargains with good balanced sound?
Dkzzz--exactly the opposite on the NAD. I own the C325BEE and like it a lot. It has a warmer tonal balance than the Rotel. It's a great amp for the price, but you will need a phono stage. Happy hunting!
Most pleasing sound vs most hifi sound
I don't think this is so uncommon--I got chills listening to the opening to "So What" on an NPR feature on Kind of Blue on my kitchen radio a while ago. And how many times have I listened to that album? And how many times has that happened to me w...
