Mcintosh MC 1201 ? Hot or Cool Nearly all the McIntosh amps I have experienced were on the cool side compared to the average. The MC7200 is the only one I know that tends to run hot. The Stereophile reviewer for the MC501s remarked on how cool they stayed no matter the volume. ...
Mcintosh C41, any thoughts, compared to c45, c46 I compared the C41 and C46 at my McIntosh dealer. They were both in the same system with Mc402 and B&W N803 speakers. The C46 is much more transparent and generally sounds much better. I was hoping there wouldn't be much difference because I c...
McIntosh MC402 I started a thread with that question but got very few answers. As I understand it, they are very very similar in sound as well as topology.
Modified Jolida JD100A or Cary Cd308T Mine has the BB1716 DAC. If you put the right tubes in the Jolida, it is one heck of a player. My current favorites are GE 5751 3 mica black plates. Arthur (hey other Arthur!)
JM Lab Electra users.... speaker cable termination I use banana MIT T2 biwires on my 926s. Sounds sublime to me!
Need some experienced ears to grow my system what kind of sound do you like?
McIntosh's new $40,000 amp and $23,000 preamp for some reason I wasn't able to get the Audiogon pics earlier. I now take back what I said about not mentioning them!
Biwire Speaker cable 4 JMLab 926 - Bryston 3BSST Jan brings up a good point I should have stressed: these speakers are very sensitive to what you hook up to them. I could tell a difference with every cable I tried. My roommate, who isn't into audio (a.k.a. my sanity check), also heard the differ...
Biwire Speaker cable 4 JMLab 926 - Bryston 3BSST Yes, T2 is Terminator 2. It was replaced by the AVt series just a few months ago.
Music with good gospel choir Try the Fairfield Four (also from AL I think). There are actually 5 of them. Really cool sounding and allows an excellent assessment of soundstage quality. Best choral music I own. Arthur
compare new McIntosh universal player with DV-50 Dokter Doug - How long have you had the Linn? Maybe it hasn't had time to break down yet. ;) Glad to hear it has already charmed you though.
Biwire Speaker cable 4 JMLab 926 - Bryston 3BSST I use MIT T2 biwire cables on my Electra 926 and just love them. I have tried many different types before choosing MIT. You can find these cables used for around $150 which makes them a killer deal. Great choice of speaker BTW! Arthur
Sweet not so sweet I would check out JM Lab Electra speakers. I have the 926 and Sam Tellig thought they were as fast and dynamic as his electrostatics (I think they are Quad 988). I have listened to electrostats often and agree. The electra's dispersion is not huge...
the 4 ohm rating I feel the same way you do. I spend my time avoiding inefficiency - especially for speakers. I feel that inefficient speakers cannot reproduce all nuances of music. This has been my experience anyway.
high ac voltage destrucive or not? In circuit design, a 50% voltage rating increase is typical so there is no problem with 128V. If your components get damaged by it, you know never to buy from those companies again. Also, upper-level Fluke meters ARE true RMS (beyond model number 7... |
