CD re-issue: "Basic Library"
Fortunately for me, when I married my wife, she came along with some very good additions to my rather large LP collection - one of which was as sealed copy of "Circle". Like Scott, I had nearly worn out my copy and now that I am back in to analogu...
Anyone tried the Audio Magic Stealth ?
I've had a Stealth (the six-duplex variety) in my system for two days after Jerry burned it in for four days before shipping. I have a SS amp and tubed pre and felt I was missing fully extended bass and "slam". No more. If there continues to be im...
Marking Items Sold
A suggestion when buying is to print a copy of the listing - at least record the item number. Then, as I have had happen in one instance, if the condition does not match the description, you have some recourse of proof when the seller immediately ...
Okay, now I think I've seen it all...
Hee, Hee. They're getting closer to my idea of having motorized, omnidirectional, remote control casters as feet on speakers platforms for those heavy and unwieldly tower speakers. Then, a person could ease back into the listening chair and positi...
What percent of your system cost is for cables?
I should never have read this thread. After itemizing, and seeing that I have $6K tied up in PC/Cond., Speaker, and IC cables alone, I shuddered. This is more than I spent on entire sytems in the "good old days". YIKES!
What would you upgrade next?
Lthkeepr makes a very strong and valid point. Treatments are as good as, or better, than many upgrades. Also, agree with upgrading the Monster. Might I suggest an Audio Magic Stealth - money well spent, IMHO.
Wow I listened to my old AR ES1 last night
I really can't say enough about how good the Nottingham Spacedeck/Spacearm sounds with the right cartridge. There is one up right now on the 'Gon (no I don't know the seller). In the neighborhood of the asking price and the rest on a cartridge to ...
How many here heard the "Wall of Sound" Dead 70's
Airtaxi, I see where John Curl was a consultant on this system. I was in an audio shop in Berkeley about a month ago and this unassuming, but very friendly guy is in the store and we begin to chat. He obviously knows a GREAT DEAL about the amp I h...
How many here heard the "Wall of Sound" Dead 70's
Like, wow man, that IS a wall of sound!
How many here heard the "Wall of Sound" Dead 70's
I saw them twice in '74 and once in '75. I may be totally wrong (and I am a dancing fool) but I thought I saw the name Marshall through the haze on those speakers.....were they Marshalls driven by Phase Linear and Mac, or was MY linear fazed?
Has anyone tried home-made PCs offered on AudiogoN
Audioman, your analogy must be printed on a card somewhere because it is, nearly verbatim, what I have been told by a number of audio salesmen trying to sell me very expensive PC's. Up until the part about NOT passing along the "big" makers cost, ...
Anyone tried the Audio Magic Stealth ?
I just ordered one yesterday. Hope it is as good as folks say!
Audio and Wine?
I like an number of wines, though White Burgundies are my all-time favorite. Some folks are limit their wine experiences by only including Savs, Clarets, Chards, etc. and don't open up to Zins, Pinot Noirs, Sav Blancs and the like.Lglegoir, DITTO ...
Your favorite three Rolling Stones songs?
For those of you having trouble picking your three favorites, how about picking three that are recorded well. That should be a bit easier.......
