Which VPI LP Cleaning Machine?
Sayas - If truly pressed I could probably come up with a dozen or so reasons why someone would want to clean more than one or two records at a time and still not find themselves in your "production" category. Just a few are:Someone with a larger, ...
Marsh or McCormack
I'll continue to promote the virtues of the McCormack DNA-225. Oodles of CLEAN, QUICK power. Can't speak to the Marsh, but if you've narrowed it down to these two amps I know you like the 225.
Which VPI LP Cleaning Machine?
Having been, well, screwed, early on when I was a novice on the VPI's, here are some differences. The VPI 16 has not been made in over 15 years. It had the vacuum tube attached to the lid and did not have a reservoir for fluid - it just was sucked ...
Anybody who has experice with multi arm tables??
HifiHarv- Yes, there is a separate pad that is attached in place of the stationary leg at the left rear of the bearing support platform - where your motor and pulley now sit. The pulley is then relocated to the front left area of the support deck....
10 sonically best rock recordings ?
There are many, many listed here with which I totally agree. Glad to hear someone else thinks that the Hendrix and Zep remasters are overly bright. What a waste of money is the Zep 4-CD boxed set. One that hasn't been mentioned that is beautifully...
Sakura Systems OTA Cable Kit
In the words of the ever snooty velvet rope tender on the old Saturday Night Live shows - "Take it outside, take it outside"
Help Me Get Out Of The Dark Ages
I've auditioned the Vandersteens and liked them, too. I did something similar to you about 6 months ago - but instead of replacing Dynas, I was replacing my old Ohm C-2's, which sound very similar to your Dyans (in their respective days, of course...
Anybody who has experice with multi arm tables??
Ohlala is correct. I have a NA Spacearm with a Tracer #3 (MM) cartidge and an Origin Live Silver with a Grado (MC) on my Spacedeck. No switches, no exchanging connections at the preamp. My Kora Eclipse has separate phono inputs for MM and MC cartr...
Amplifier Fan
There is a brand of fans called Vornado which run extremely quiet. Might be worth a try.
best remote preamp for McCormack amp
I have been using a Kora Eclipse preamp (Siemens gold-pin tubes)with my DNA-225 for just over a month and have been very well pleased. LARGE soundstage and detail. This is a hybrid pre with a SS phono section which also serves my needs quite well....
Is anyone else getting annoyed with...
Fatparrot makes a good point. Another is those ads similar to a currnet one under dealer demos for tube amps. "Someone's lucky day, special price, $1.00". Then following the links takes you to a $19,900 retail amp for the bargain price of $14,995....
Is anyone else getting annoyed with...
I'd like to weigh in on the "they got you to look" notion. This equates somewhat to the "how stupid can we make the ad" approach on television. If your attention is grabbed, it is considered a victory by many. In my case, at least, "getting me to ...
Analogue Tracer Cartridges
Nothing, eh? All I can find out is that the suggested starting point for the #3 tracking force is 1.7 grams.....
Time to get things straight.
What? Does this mean that I CAN'T do my Hendrix impression using my Nottingham Spacedeck and expect it to hold up under the strain? This really hurts, and I shall always be bitter as a result. ;-)
Beginner in Vinyl - How far should I go?
This reminds me of the famous line from Hans and Franz on the old SNL's. HEAR US NOW AND BELEIVE US LATER! :-)I, too, started from scratch and started building a quality system about 6 months ago. I had a late-70's Sony DD table with a decent Orto...
