SURPRISE This is a pretty dang good LP I had not seen that particular list, Dennis, but I reviewed it just now. I did agree with several of the listings that I have previously heard, but totally disagreed with several others (not the music so much as the sonics). As such, I'm not sure ...
What did he say? Misunderstood lyrics. Owww, get back, Voodoochile! You needn't understand James Brown to understand James Brown! ;-)
SURPRISE This is a pretty dang good LP Frank, you're entirely welcome and thanks to you, and others, for the return tips! This is how I am hoping this thread will continue. The "World is a Ghetto", kind of a funk/jazz/soul thing, is extremely well produced (deep, layered, and balanced)...
SURPRISE This is a pretty dang good LP I would love to see a lot of repsonses to this thread in the interest of opening up the possibilities for all to enjoy some good, and WELL RECORDED music that they might otherwise ignore. If someone posts a title or artist that "just ain't your ba...
Used records/CDs in NYC? I am squirelling away all these tips for my annual visit to the City. thanks
VPI cleaner clear tubes cracking I think Albert may have been the one who conducted the test regarding RRL solutions, Bob. In any event, I have done the same, comparing the RRL solutions (Deep Cleaner and Super Vinyl Wash) to VPI, Disc Doctor, and two home brews for which I found...
1950-2000: The 10 Greatest Songwriting Teams If nothing else, I realized a long time ago that one person's crap = another person's fertilizer, when it comes to music (and politics). There is, of course, a definite "flip side" to that record, too.
Beyond "Original Pressing" LP designations Egad, I am finding that this is a subject worthy of a doctoral research project. Things are decidedly label specific and even beyond the 1A, A-1 pressing codes, there is variation. I read where A-2, B-1, C-1, etc. may all be first "mother" pressin...
Best cover tunes Linda Ronstadt did quite a number of good covers, the best of which that come to immediate mind - Blue Bayou, Tracks of My Tears, Love is a Rose, and Heat Wave
1950-2000: The 10 Greatest Songwriting Teams Do David Gilmour/Roger Waters count, or did they more or less write separately for the larger Pink Floyd whole (in the wall)?

Best cover tunes I am not, by any means, a Van Halen fan, but I thought their cover of Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" was pretty decent. Still like Roy's a bit better, but could make an argument for VH's rendition on occasion.I also like Jennifer Warnes' covers of B...
60's/70's Talking/Singing Story Ballads yep, takin' tips and gettin' stoned...
MC demagnetizer, how many use one, any concerns? I recall the demagnitizers that were popular for cassette tape headds back "in the day", also. I still have one hanging around from the mid-70's, if someone can find use for it.
1950-2000: The Top 25 Singer/Songwriters Perhaps a bit "sappy" for the tastes of some, but I'd add Jim Croce to the already stellar list. Glad to see a couple mentioned John Prine. His, "Hello in There", among others is an absolute classic - one of the finest set of lyrics I've ever heard. |
