Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
Raul, your needs are different in terms of buying and selling cartridges or in your ability or willingness to tell us your first-choice arm/cartridge combos? I will tell you this. REGARDLESS of motivation, affiliation, or "needs", I find it EXTREM...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Tom, any more musings with regard to hanging the "oblong" counterweight on the Silver in lieu of the stock counterweight?
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
Raul, if you are buying all of these cartridges new, then "testing" them, only to sell them in a month or two, you are wasting more money that Doug ever dreamed of wasting! Of course, as you say, people are free to waste their money at their own w...
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Yeah, armboards, but plinths, too. Been reading quite a bit on the subject relative to suspended and non-suspended tables, visa via a plinth. For an armboard, I was thinking of giving a wood veneer, brass, Corian, brass (or possibly an Isodamp-type...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Your welcome. Looking forward to even better things as this cart breaks in, too.
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
In a purely aesthetic vein, I was in the store other day to find weights for my OL Silver. In the store I visited, there was literally an array of lead and brass weights in a variety of colors. Black, which matched my arm perfectly, gold, silver, ...
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Maybe he won't come back cause most everyone misspells his name. :-)Joe, try looking under Schroder (umlaut over the o), if you haven't. I had better luck that way.
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
I was just making a lame attempt at humor, Raul. I think I need to improve my circle of friends in order to find one who would send me a Reference arm, though! Ha!Was rather hoping that Frank would share his thoughts on CLD materials, but that hop...
What is the best phono preamp you have heard?
Interesting the mention of the Herron. Cmk, have you ever heard it in conjunction with the VTSP-1A linestage? Having already bought a K&K phono stage (which I think is as good as most anything up to the Io non-signature) I decided not to get a...
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
If someone sends me a Schroder (sorry, no umlaut) Reference to try, I'll say more than eureka! :-)
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
How about this for a practical answer? If you are debating whether to spend $200 to allow EASY and REPEATABLE VTA adjustment and you think that you will be adjusting VTA on an even occasional basis, buy it!

OK, Doug, I understand from your post that this is what he HAS been doing. Sorry I wasn't able to attend the festivities and learn this first-hand and also for apparently crudely interpreting his comments on AA.I fully accept that others might fin...
Anyone try thr new Sirius satellite radio system?
I agree with Prpixel. I've had XM and Sirius is rental cars. Not sure it will ever be "audiophile" quality, but I'm not looking for that in a radio - especially in the car. But, I must say that there were two things I REALLY liked:1) NO FREAKING C...

I was just pulling at you, Joe. You know I like wood, since I've spouted on more than several occasions about it and wood inlays. It is also no secret that I held reservations regarding platters of wood, owing to a long family background in woodwo...

Copper and dark wood? It would look like it belonged in a 70's Country Kitchen! :-) j/k
