Trans Temp W, Magic Diamond cartridges - comments Raul, if you can e-mail me the picture, I will post it myself in exchange for keeping a copy (providing you with full credit, of course)!
What do you listen to when no one else can hear it Clbeanz, I'll call your Best of Bread (actually a very well recorded LP), and back at you a Christopher Cross S/T. Should another bump be in the offing, I'll see what ya got by going all in with a Jim Stafford S/T - while the Spiders and Snakes cr...
Trans Temp W, Magic Diamond cartridges - comments Raul, sonic impressions aside, something that would be a stunning and exceedingly helpful contribution would be to post a picture of all of those cartridges in one or two frames, labelled with names (versions). While you assert that you are not ri...
New Turntable: Teres, Nottingham, Origin? I seem to remember that shoot-out, which was extended by a few more tables and arm/cartridge combos subsequently. But, now that the source is revealed, maybe it takes on a lesser meaning. But, to clarify, some listeners preferred the Hyperspace to ...
Idler wheel drive vs Belt In the end, it is all a matter of what YOU find most pleasing. There will be arguments on all sides - belt, idler, direct, etc. that are all very convincing in their own way. Of course, the only real way for YOU to know is to listen. Any and all o...
Vandersteen 5A HighPass M5 Crossover Oh, I'm not saying there ISN'T one, just wondering which one it is. My McCormack was 100K Ohm before I had it modded (now 10KOhm), and I thought that was high! I have thought about perhaps having a dedicated filter made for this amp to avoid the d...

What Happens When You Die? Hell, my sons want my stuff, especially ythe vinyl and front end BEFORE I die! :-)
Concert stage layout -- who made who? Bufus, a good point that I realize. I was more referring in the case I cited as the high-hat seeming to come from way left in the soundtage and the snare from the right (not being correctly spaced but in the proper relative location). One that make...
Concert stage layout -- who made who? Being a former drummer, I concur with Tvad. I think Sean makes a good point about the motives behind the mixing. Looking for more impact - but I often find it annoying - hearing the high-hat on one side and the snare on the other is just TOO much....
McCormack Silver vs. Gold revision for DNA-125? After hearing my Platinum upgraded 225, I'd kill to hear a monoblock pair. Oh, I'm saving. :-)
McCormack Silver vs. Gold revision for DNA-125? I cannot speak to the Silver or Gold revisions, but others speak glowingly of them. I can tell you that I very recently had my DNA-225 upgraded to Platinum status and the results are absolutely mind-blowing. It is one of the finest amps I've ever ...
Advice for my first turntable/arm/cart please help It's been years since I've heard one of those Anything tables, Francicso. Could you expound on its virtures! ;-)
The best passive preamp A passive is not for everyone or every system. However, I will enthusiastically second the Bent NOH. It is the very best linestage I've heard with my McCormack DNA-225 and I've had a few. Most recently, it embarrassed a Pass Labs X1, which is abou... |
