| have i diagnosed my hum? Is there a reason why you did not bias the amp for the new tubes? It would seem that is the plase to start, then as Rleff said, swap them one at a time. Do any of the tubes glow red at the plates as opposed to the heaters? | |
| Touch up rust spots in black steel speaker stand? Along theo's lines, a dab of rust reformer (various brands, should be at the hardware or auto stores) should do the trick. They make it in spray cans and jars. Get a jar and use a q tip. It turns black, you may not need to top coat it. | |
| Digital out... does source matter? No DAC is jitter immune, and the source is as important as the DAC IMHO. Even minute amounts of jitter can effect the sound of even a claimed "jitter immune" DAC. A transport that slaves to the DAC seems to fair be the best. | |
