Is my Cal Audio Sigma II too old? FWIW I have a Schiit Bifrost Uber and I really like Schiit gear. Having said that, I have bought a Bluesound Node 2 this year and I play digital files from my HDD via my wireless router to the Node 2, mostly ripped CDs. The DAC inside the Node 2 s...
Looking for a music server, sans DAC. Hey Mesch, just a quick note. If you go with a Node 2 keep in mind that your HDD must be connected to your network. The Node 2 will connect wired or wireless to your router and have access to the music. If you have the time I had posted some info o...
Looking for a music server, sans DAC. Mesch- I don’t have the Vault 2, I have the Node 2. I have been using Itunes to rip CDs using the drive on my MacBook Pro to a MyCloud NAS. The Bluesound Node 2 picks up my music via my wireless network at home. In my case I had to work on the alb...
Need help selecting a system with Tidal streaming (Maybe MQA) and speakers for around $1k. One consideration worth noting. Once the decision is made to stream via Tidal, that is a $20 a month expense (discount for students or military). One should ask if it is important to explore all the music available, because that is one of the best...
Bluesound Vault 2 now or wait for CES2018? Kenscott! Congrats! Just wanted to share some info. You have made a really good decision because this device is tremendous. One great slice of the Bluesound pie is the customer service. These guys are smart IT reps who can really help you with any...
New CDP or standalone DAC...? Just to add a tidbit...I have two CD players in two audio systems. Both have an external DAC connected. One is a Rega Apollo with a Schiit Bifrost Uber and the other is an older Sony ES player with a Benchmark DAC1. Neither of these sound better t...
New CDP or standalone DAC...? Somebody mentioned TAS. Actually, that is the last place I would look for unbiased objective info about any audio brand. You get better info here or even other audio websites that are not heavy with manufacturer specific forums. With some research...
Bluesound Vault 2 now or wait for CES2018? +laltik and +jl35. The Ayre Codex is a great addition to Bluesound but at a higher price. Part of the allure of the Bluesound is mucho functionality or versatility and at a budget price. And if you don’t stream audio or you have NOT heard MQA, you...
Vandersteen fans..need your input (TREO CT) If you have a somewhat dedicated audio room, I think the ideas of dweller and tomic601 are great. Clapping hands can lead to fixing echos and creating the dead room you want. If you are patient and very observant sitting very quiet in your room wi...
Opening a can of worms When it comes down to brass tacks don’t we all buy into the notion that brand ABC’s box of over-hyped and absurdly expensive box of wires is better than brand XYZ’s brand of over-hyped and absurdly expensive box of wires? I think it does not just ...
Looking for a music server, sans DAC. Keep the Bryston and add a Bluesound Vault 2. You could use the Bryston as your ext DAC. Now you can rip your CDs, access music files on a HDD and try other features. If you decide to start streaming, maybe you would like to try MQA, you can do th...
Vandersteen fans..need your input (TREO CT) You might think about this. I have 2ce Sig II and I made a change (relunctantly) that enabled them to sound better at low volume. I got a hearing test. Yes many people suffer from hearing loss and do not know it. Now that I have hearing aids, I ca...
Need help selecting a system with Tidal streaming (Maybe MQA) and speakers for around $1k. For those who think MQA might go away here is a list of companies backing the technology by offering it in their audio equipment....https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/dac-streamer-mqa-wireless-besides-bluesoundBTW I would try to get a Node 2 a...
My speaker quest I have owned a fair number of speakers over the years, Vandersteen are in the top 5%. Among affordable speakers that sound truly high fidelity they areamong three brands. If you can swing it, listen to a pair to see if they are for you.
Amp selection for someone on a modest budget... If you look at Parasound, the A21 is the one to get. A very high fidelity amp with tons of power. I have one and after trying many othe amps by Parasound, this is the best bargain. |
