Qubuz feedback and membership Plan Suggestions
@uberwaltz“Apparently the word is they have listened and are adding lots of titles daily.”I hope you’re right! My album import from Tidal to Qobuz resulted in only about 60% being found in Qobuz :(   This would be a showstopper for me. My catalogu...
Metrum Onyx versus Metrum Pavane
@nitewulf @justjames72 - +1!I enjoy my Onyx as well, and good to know that its so good that the Pavane, even though I'm sure  it's likely a "little" better than the Onyx, it may not be justifiable for the add'l $$ required.I run mine via AES/EBU f...
What preamp creates the largest soundstage?
@rdoc THAT is exactly the same combination I’m running (well almost, mine is a standard Backert Rhumba 1.2, but w/ Audyn True Copper Max output caps), and it is truly a fantastic, synergistic combination. I whole-heartedly agree and concur with yo...
Pass labs xa25 amp and BW 804 d3?
@cal3713 I also own a Pass Labs XA25 amp, which I received a few weeks ago, and like you, I also own a pair of the wonderful Coincident Frank mkIIs, which I've had for while now.  Being a tube guy, especially SET, I have not been able to live with...

Tube info
I’ve had great success with CBS 5814a tubes, and Amperex 7316 tubes, in that order, in my preamp. The Brimar mentioned above is good too, but I like the other two better.
Pass Labs XA 25 Cables
HR over at Stereophile seems to like the Audioguest Tornado with the XA25 (at least compared to stock) so that might be an option, and I already have Cerious Tech Graphene "Blue" pcs that I will try on the XA25. The Sigma recommendation above is w...
Pass Labs XA 25 Cables
Anyone have any specific power cord recommendations for XA25 that really make it shine?? Please advise!
Non Oversampling DACs
@justjames72  Congrats on your Onyx! I have not tried an Ambre yet, but seems people like it.  From what I hear, the I2S input is ideal for Metrum DACs and others; too bad there isn't an I2S standard across the board!  For now, as I mentioned earl...
Non Oversampling DACs
@mrotino +1 for the Metrum Acoustics Onyx... I have one as well, and been running it since early spring.  I agree with all you say above. Some other observations to add... I like the AES/EBU input the best (I'm using the excellent Snake River Booms...

Since there is no feedback out there on the WE300b-Plus tubes, how about something on the latest Psvane tubes that just came out in the fall: the Psvane ACME Supreme series 300B vacuum tube? Here’s a snippet from Grant Fidelity’s website:"ACME Supr...
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
So, lemme see if I got this right.... you are streaming a service from some device (iPhone, iPad, laptop??) to the Chromecast via Bluetooth (strike 1), then the Chromecast is connected to your Gumby via USB (strike 2). Now onto Redbook CDs - you a...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
@mrs_ppt  Thx Krissy, that is helpful... I am enjoying the Total Contact, but 3 mos....that's a long time without any changes to the system, lol!
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Need a recommendation for best practices here folks.... as a habitual tube and cable roller (though I have to say my cabling situation is in a very good place now), and a happy user of Total Contact, what is the preferred way to use Total Contact ...
Looking for a digital cable 75 ohm
@wig Based on your definitions of warmth, the Boomslang fits into the latter description and not the former. They are not euphonic, slow, thick, nor do they have the rolled off highs that characterizes your first description of “warm”.  They are v...
