Another new DAC: Audio Mirror
Looking forward to your unbiased review Terry @teajay ! Knowing how sweet your Orchid sounded when I heard it at your place, and knowing how awesome my Tubadour III sounds, it will be an interesting read!
New to audio. Is there a good DAC that can produce layers of sound?
You should check out the Audio Mirror Tubadour III that was just listed here last night. A VERY worthy DAC to consider, especially with the upgrades! No affiliation with the seller, btw... just a happy owner of one of these TIIIs.
Room Correction - Roon + REW (Room EQ Wizard)
Absolutely have to say that Roon and REW are a game changer for me in my family room. I’d love to be able to treat my room properly, but because my system is in a main living space, physical treatment options are limited. Using REW to generate a c...
Exploring Preamp options for the Pass XA25
The Backert Rhumba is a splendid match with my XA-25. I get pretty much the same sonic qualities as wlutke above with his Herron. The XA-25 is a great match with tubed preamplifiers, IMO!
Network streamer recommendation without a dac/amp (pure streamer), under $4k
The Aries G1 and Lumin U1 Mini are on my very shortlist.  Anyone describe the sonic characteristics of both, compare and contrast? Preferences?
Tube Rolling Advice for the Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme?
Thanks @jsqt!Christmas in August! Love it! Have fun with your new toy!Adding the SR Blue fuse was like a power cord upgrade from stock. Sounds cleaner, a little more open, a little more detail, but not because of  added brightness. Not a massive d...
Tube Rolling Advice for the Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme?
@jsqtI have the Rhumba 1.2, with upgraded output caps (a pair of Audyn True Copper Max), and an upgraded SR Blue fuse.  Great preamp; responds very well to tube rolling!Check my system here on Audiogon... a lot easier than trying to describe. Pics...
Tube Rolling Advice for the Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme?
My faves for my Backert.... a pair of CBS 5814a. Just a well balanced sound across the range, but with a lively presentation. I tried a bunch of 12au7s, but always come back to these!
Another new DAC: Audio Mirror
@audio123 I really wanted to, and was going to try those Miflex caps in my Tubadour, but then I found out how large they measure! Massive! I didn’t know how I would be able to fit them in there. I ended up going with the very nice Jupiter Copper F...
Backert Labs Rhumba preamp
@maguiar102 Can’t help you with recommending a SS preamp, haven’t used one in many, many years! I can tell you the Backert Rhumba is a great match with my Pass XA-25, and @jackd is right, the tube maintenance is nil for the Backert; it’s easy on i...
Another new DAC: Audio Mirror
@toolbox149Vlad has a pair of 5977 tubes soldered together, and attached to a 9-pin adapter, which inserts into a standard 9-pin socket.  So there are two pairs of these = four 5977 tubes.  What's nice is you can roll a pair of your favorite 6922 ...
Voodoo Power Cords
Nice review Larry! I really like the Voodoo power cables as well, but man, I can’t play at this level! Can’t wait to hear your latest when I get back out there! I’m sure it’s great!
What is the best solid state amplifier you have ever heard?
For me, it was the Pass Labs XA-25; this is the one that made me finally move away from my 300b SET monoblocks!
Orchid vs TUBADOUR III - Help me choose
That’s saying something @waltersalas since you’ve had some top notch DACs Chris!  Glad you are liking yours! I agree with Chris; at a minimum get it with upgraded caps, and roll better tubes into It to get the best out of the Tubadour III. You won...
Considering switching to Tubes
I can never see my system without tubes! For the first time in a long time, I have switched from 300b SET monoblocks for a SS class A amp (the crazy goood XA25 amp from Pass). But..... I keep a tubed preamp (Backert Rhumba) and a tubed DAC (Audio ...
