Bose Wave Music system

I was wondering if anyone had or actually listened to the Bose Wave Music system. For a simple, all-in-one solution, it seems like it could be worthwhile. It has a cd player, radio, and speakers all in one box. Without the optional cd changer it costs $499. What do you think? Thanks for the input.

I suggest you listen to the Boston Acoustics Micro System CD. Please see http://www.bostonacoustics.com/home_product.aspx?product_id=306
Thanks for the responses. I guess the main problem is knowing where to look to find something that's better and still in the price range. I'll check out your recommendations. Stevecham and Celtic66, what is the specific JVC model number you are referring to?
Costco has a nice sounding mini-shelf system made by Philips which has speakers with ribbon tweeters and in real wood veneer cabinets all at $200. They also have a cheaper Philps set but I recommend the more expensive one. I have a pair I use in my kitchen and I'm just as happy with them as I am with my Linn Classik matched with NHT Super Ones.
for a one piece table top its fine. my wife and others would rather listern to it then my hi fi's.
I really don't think that Boze is considered to be a part of the High End community. Nevertheless, I personally own one of these things and find it satisfying for background music. In fact, I prefer the Bose to my $$$$$ reference system at low volume levels.
