Which adcom sounds best?

I went and heard an Adcom GFA-555 and I loved it!
Sounded clean and clear as diamond - uncolored, and with black background.

I have other great amps like Quad, McIntosh, Krell, but I really like Adcom now - go figure.

So, my question is which one to hunt down on used market - since they don't make them any more - :(

GFA-555 or GFA-555 II, or GFA-5500?

5500 is the newer one, no?

Anyone know what years they were made in?

Thanks for your time and expertise on the subject!

In respone to the poster's original question, I would say that the Adcom that sounds best is the one that's unplugged.
I just won 5400 model on an auction.

I can't wait to hear it.

Thanks a lot to all the posters for their voice of experience!
I'm happy to say that the Adcoms were my first venture into separates and after hearing most all of them I can easily recommend the GFA-555 MKII as being the better sounding amp overall.
OK Wolf, I was too harsh. My apologies. Years ago, I had my amp in for service, and the dealer gave me an Adcom GFA 555 as a loaner. I remember it as having all of the qualities that I associate with bad sounding transistor amps. Of course, that doesn't mean they all sound that way.
