Can a DAC do double duty?

Hi All,

I have Eversolo streamer going to DENAFRIPS Pontus via USB. Then XLR’s from Pontus to my processor.

I have an older Pioneer Elite CD carousel which has coax. Can I go coax from CD player to Pontus, then Pontus to processor via RCA in’s on my processor?

Obviously I would be listening to either/or not at the same time. But is this doable? And if so does it do any harm to Pontus?

Thanks so much in advance!

Best Regards…

Even though I would have only used one output at a time, Vinshine confirmed what the manual said about not connecting both outputs at once.

@burtlake Great and important info, and thanks for sharing — I was actually wondering about exactly that issue.  OP, there’s the definitive answer to your initial question.

Damn, thank you for pointing this out. I actually emailed Alvin at Vinshine about this and they're currently on holiday break...Guess I'd better put those plans on hold 😔

For years, all the way back to the original Audio Alchemy DAC I have always had a DAC as the heart and hub of my digital gear....

Just received this response from Alvin:

Dear Brian

Nice to hear from you again!
It's been some time since we last spoke. How are you doing? I hope you are doing well.

Absolutely no problem to connect multiple sources to the DAC's inputs.

However, there is no need to use RCA output to connect to the same Krell processor. Your existing XLR output will work just fine.

Hope this helps!

So that being the case, then I would just switch between Coax and USBB on Pontus to switch from CD player to streamer, right?
