The Good Stuff

There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it sounds. If it sounds good it's successful; if it doesn't it has failed. --  Duke Ellington

This purpose of this thread is to provide a place to post outstanding examples of the Good Music.

Lee Morgan

THE COOKER

Blue Note 1957 / 2006 RvG Edition

Lee Morgan(trumpet), Pepper Adams(baritone sax), Bobby Timmons(piano), Paul Chambers(bass), Philly Joe Jones(drums)

Notes: If we accept Morgan’s distinction between an original style (which he claimed not to have at this point in his career) and an identity, THE COOKER can be heard as the album in which the Lee Morgan identity is announced.

Morgan is 19 years old on this recording. His 5th recording in less than a year.
