truth about subs?


after reading stereo mags, off and on for some 35yrs, i finally read the best explination about speaker design ever. in tas issue 189, a question from Allen Edelstein and the 3 parragraph answer. it was the reply by Alan Taffel that made the bulb go off in my head. how simple understanding design realy is? thoughts?

Subs are easy. Very easy. Easiest thing to make. Just very expensive if you want
to build a good one.
I am not familiar with the article referred to but the truth about subs for me is that, properly integrated, a decent sub the most practical and affordable way to get very excellent full range sound into a system.

After reading mags on and off for 35 years, it seems incomprehensible that one answer could end up throwing the baby out with the bath water.

As others have asked, if it is ground-breaking, why the secrecy?
