Mcintosh class g amp compared to Mcintosh class ab amp

Why are mcintosh home theater amps are class g instead of class ab. What is class g, is it better than ab.

Imagine how big and heavy a McIntosh AB amp would be with 5 to 7 autoformers!

I have two other amps a mcintosh mc-252 and a mc-2105 that has been refurbished at the factory in New York. At this time for now what amp would you use, my speakers are tekton moabs at 4 ohms.
