The Immediate Family

This could be really, really good!

I've seen these guys play with various headliners many, many times.  About time that they get there well deserved chance at the spotlight!

Glad to hear it. The 2nd album they did was 10 yrs after their 1st. I haven't listened to the 2nd that much but the 1st is stellar IMO. First heard it playing in a record/CD store back then. Asked who it was and bought it immediately. Love their rendition of "It Hurts Me Too". But there is plenty more good stuff on it. Enjoy.
I caught those guys various times during the height of the LA singer-songwriter period in the '70s--along with David Lindley and others, like Victor Feldman. Sklar should step in for Dusty in ZZ. You know how long it takes to grow a beard like that? :)

Interesting Idea. Maybe a good one too.
Bassist Leland Sklar---one of the most recorded in history---started posting daily YouTube videos he recorded in his Pasadena home after the pandemic closed down the music industry (both recordings and live shows). In each video he discusses a particular recording he played on, recounting it's making, on some videos playing bass along with the recording. A great musician, with a wealth of stories to tell. Fascinating stuff!

I bought the debut Section album when it came out in the 70's, but didn't care for it. As with many back-up bands, I prefer their playing in that capacity, rather than the Rock/Jazz Fusion music of their own albums. I feel the same about Jerry Douglas, whose work as a backing musician (he's the world's premier dobro player) I love, but whose albums as a front man (in which he and his band play Bluegrass/Jazz Fusion) I don't. I'm about to see him live in the former capacity, he and his band touring with John Hiatt.

Sklar also finally had the time to put together his "finger" book, a collection of the pictures he snapped over the years of other artists flipping him off (at his request ;-) . It's available on his website I believe, and perhaps Amazon and/or bookstores (I'm not interested, so haven;t investigated.).
